You won't keep saying that nobody forced you to show up and not answer? Well, yes, we know - you are here to complain that you are being jammed by a question nobody is forcing you to engage with?

Well, yes, we know.

😄
You really latched onto the "jammed" word.

Weird.

But you do you buddy. All I was trying to say is you made an idiotic polarized poll that forces people into basically a cattle gate.

No nuance.

Identical to: are you in favor of abortions because you want children to die? Or are you against abortions?

Same basic energy.

Leading. Polarizing. Lame.

But makes the choir sing!

Congrats on that! If that's what flips your burger...

You really latched onto the "jammed" word.

You used it, I am just asking you questions. Who jammed you? What jammed you? Who forced you to come and bitch endlessly? Was it me?

😄

Was there the same sort of liberal meltdown when Obama got a gift from them?
You link mentions gifts being given over and could not be kept. Hence no meltdown because there isn't much in the way of Obama insisting he could keep everything and also didn't travel to nations where he had business interests...and he was never gifted a 400 million dollar airplane that needed to be retrofitted to be Air Force One.

"Trump has said the plane will go directly to his presidential library after he leaves office, and that he "wouldn't be using it" after his presidency. "
LOL ! "Trump said".....like he such a teller of truth !!!

He hasn't got a library. Where is he going to keep it while one if built? Will it stay with the Air Force? If it did then I would beleive him but I bet it doesn't.

obviously this new one is state of the art while the old AF 1 being used was supposed to be replaced

beats me. the whole national archive thing is obscure. so then dont allow the donation - keep it as AF1. the courts can work it out
Meanwhile there is no influence peddling, no corruption and Emollumnents has not been enforced against a sitting President.

i dnt even try to use emotions as a reason

it's a free plane. whatever costs are needed would be minimal toward buying another.
Frankly I would cancel the Boeing contract because they are so pathetic

I'd have to look at the model and find out, which i will not waste more time on this petty stuff
They would still have to replace the old one though, that's the point. The next President won't be Trump and would still have to use a different plane once Trump is gone. What happens if Trump dies before they get the plane ready? What happens to that plane?

Do you support spending the money that it will take to take care of, retrofit to make secure for use this gift? Taxpayers would be responsible for that money.

maybe Boeing will get moving .. the delays are insufferable. although Trump just negotiated 96 plane sales to Qatar from Boeing
Boeing is the problem, not Trump. we wastes so many trillions on foreign wars. a plane retro fit is nothing to get upset over

No. Trump is the problem. In this case, there is no difference in Trump having to wait the same amount of time any other President would have to wait for a new plane, and it wouldn't cost the taxpayers more money to make two planes ready for service as AF1.

Do you support paying taxpayer money for this gift that only one President will get to use, and even then for a very short time if at all? Is that not a waste of taxpayer money? If not, why isn't it?

Also, if Boeing delivered the plane tomorrow, would you say President Trump should have to reject the gift?

what does this mean? Boeing is overdue on delivering. are you saying another POTUS would have a 3 year overdue time as well?

it's peanuts. Trump is delivering gargantuan amount of trade on his ME trip. Over a trillion from Qatar akone

I dont debate a hypothetical

Estimates are it will be close to a billion dollars and several years to retrofit. Given it's source it will have to be stripped to bare bones to ensure no "bugs". Trump will have a year or so use of it then a perfectly good an operational Air Force One will be decommissioned and given to a Presidential Library that doesn't exist and stored in a hangar somewhere until the Library is built. You're OK with that?

Yes because DOGE saved enough money by firing FAA personnel that it wont affect the budget at all

Yes. If the present is being given to Trump, for his explicit use as President, since it is then given to his Presidential library, then any other President would also be waiting for that new plane, with or without that extra expense.

There's no evidence of any actual economic benefit to this visit, especially to that level. And why would that matter even if there was? How does that justify taxpayers paying for a one use personal plane for Trump? Additionally, is it okay to deal with terrorist supporting countries only when Trump says it is?

Of course you won't answer because you know your comment was just another excuse to defend Trump.

what? are you saying only Boeing is expected to have 3 years delays in delivering? talk about low expectations

do you want proof of the 96 jet orders from Boeing or what? Qatar is a unique ME state that is westernized in infrastructure and economic development, but still Islamic cultural.. I suggest you get a deeper understanding of Qatar..hope this helps
  • Qatar's relationship with Hamas is a complex balancing act, driven by a mix of humanitarian concerns, regional influence, and a desire to play a mediating role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While providing aid and hosting Hamas's political office, Qatar also engages in diplomacy and mediation efforts. However, the extent to which Qatar's actions ultimately support or empower Hamas remains a subject of ongoing debate and scrutiny

I find it hilarious that the topic creator is calling Qatar a terrorist funding state when we're friends with Saudi Arabia and Israel, who have also funded and engage in terrorism. Point being is that framing Qatar as a terrorist funding state is hilarious when that's literally the name of the game, we've been friends with terror arming/conducting states for the past 50+ years.

It's not a "free" plane, it would cost quite a bit to upgrade it to having just some of the stuff an Air Force 1 is supposed to have, and it cannot be fully upgraded so we'd still be paying for the next one anyway.

And you guys really make a shit ton of excuses for obvious corruption. It's really pathetic.

What does the Boeing delay have to do with Trump taking this gift that will cost US taxpayers millions, possibly a billion dollars? the delay of Boeing has nothing to do with this gift. At all. It would only matter if this "gift" meant we were instead cancelling Boeing's contract and just going to be using this plane as AF1 for future Presidents.

I don't need a deeper understanding to know that Trump himself called them terrorist supporters. But they give him a gift, that only he will use, and suddenly they are allies. they didn't change their policies, they are buying off our President.

ME trip is setting new relationships. Hopefully KSA will recognze Israel

Boeing and GE Aerospace secured a landmark order from Qatar Airways, a $96 billion agreement to acquire up to 210 American-made Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft powered by GE Aerospace engines. This is Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order and largest-ever 787 order. This historic agreement will support 154,000 U.S. jobs annually, totaling over 1 million jobs in the United States during the course of production and delivery of this deal.

Quantinuum finalized a Joint Venture Agreement with Al Rabban Capital, a prominent Qatari company. Qatar will invest up to $1 billion in state-of-the-art quantum technologies and workforce development provided by the Joint Venture, supporting U.S. and Qatari jobs and leadership in this critical emerging technology.

  • Qatar has made significant investments in the United States across hotels and tourism, financial services, technology, healthcare, and energy, with plans to invest even more over the next five years. These investments strengthen the U.S. economy by supporting good-paying jobs for millions of American workers, expanding U.S. exports, and funding research and development.

  • Qatar has the third largest proven reserves of natural gas in the world, and has invested in American energy infrastructure, directly contributing to U.S. energy security and industrial resilience.
  • The United States and Qatar also signed a statement of intent to further strengthen our security partnership, outlining over $38 billion in potential investments including support for burden-sharing at Al Udeid Air Base and future defense capabilities related to air defense and maritime security.

You won't even answer questions about why.

The rest of this is just claims by the WH, run by the liars. This isn't evidence.

I stopped beating a dead horse the Dems can't control their rage. Some started yet another thread on da plane.
Not a word about the trip

Sure it is. i deliberately cut out the WH "rah rah" to give factual info grossly lacking on this TDS infected board
There is more and the UAE meeting should produce more results

Because the topic of this thread is the gift. The trip is nothing new. The plane being gifted is. You trying to distract or deflect doesn't change those things. You still won't answer why the extra expense is worth it for something that only goes to a single person, will only be used for his benefit. No one else's. It will cost us 100s of millions, maybe a billion and you won't answer why taxpayers should go for that.

The UAE has been an ally for decades.

already answered. who cares?
The UAE has been an ally for decades.
Qatar hasn't but Trump's transactional foreign policy is changing that. It's amazing no one here seems to understand Qatar

And you think you do?

that's a ridiculous argument. Emollumnets doesn't exist at the presidential level.. George Washington took a painting home to Mount Vernon after he left office if I recall
We contend that the practices of our First President suggest that President Trump is not violating the Foreign and Domestic Emoluments Clause. The former provision does not apply to elected officials like the President, and the latter provision does not prohibit business transactions. We have also submitted many amicus briefs on this issue.

  1. The Congressional Research Service Has Shifted Its Position on Whether the Foreign Emoluments Clause Applies to the President, The Volokh Conspiracy (Oct. 3, 2019).
  2. The Office of Legal Counsel Has Not Shifted Its Position on Whether the Foreign Emoluments Clause Applies to the President. But the Civil Division Has, The Volokh Conspiracy (Oct. 4, 2019).
  3. Who Was Right About the Emoluments Clauses? Judge Messitte or President Washington?, Volokh Conspiracy (Aug. 3, 2018).
  4. The 'Resistance' vs. George Washington, Wall Street Journal (Oct. 15, 2017).
  5. The Emoluments Clauses litigation, part 2 — the practices of the early presidents, the first Congress and Alexander Hamilton, Washington Post (Sept. 26, 2017).
  6. Yes, Trump Can Accept Gifts, New York Times (July 13, 2017).
That guy references HIMSELF in the first two links I checked. That's not how it works.

No, you didn't answer. I'm asking you, not about "who". Do you care? If not, is it only because it's Trump accepting the gift? Were you not upset about any other President accused of bad behavior? Or wasting money?

Trump doesn't "understand" Qatar. He understands bribes, greed, corruption. Do you think that is how the US should do business like that?
