When did you buy your first one?

I had a family member buy their first firearm during the onset of Corona.

Guns? Do I have guns? Maybe..... Maybe not. Hmmmm.

IIRC, it was in 1973. I was trapping raccoons at the time and (after catching a dog in one of my traps) decided that if I had caught a skunk instead then it would be prudent to have a gun (.22LR revolver) handy. I normally just used an axe handle to dispatch the raccoon without doing damage to the pelt. After feeding the dog about half a can of sardines, it finally calmed down and let me free it from the trap.

Owned Firearms longer than most here have been on the planet. First real gun, not pellet gun was a bolt action 22lr for hunting squirrels and rabbits, since then I have or currently own many dozens of firearms. Have run firing ranges in the military, was a Unit Armour in a Mechanized Infantry Unit, several times, qualified Expert for 8 Straight years of service, been in a few fire fights, and taught Firearms Safety and Basic Firearms Handling at several private ranges, currently have my own private range (I live in the country) for friends and family to enjoy, and am a firm believer in the 2nd A. Oh and while an Independent, I lean Left.

I bought my first firearm in Vietnam from another soldier who was going back to the world. It was a modified M2 carbine. Semi/Full automatic. The other owner had cut off the barrel just beyond the hand guard and I cut the stock off and carved grooves in the grip to hold onto. It ended up being kind of a .30 zip gun. It was nice for convoys and the couple times I flew in a Loach. But if I went anywhere with my M16, I also took my M2.

Of course, like the guy before me, this weapon could never be brought back to the US. I sold it on my way out.

Since then, I've owned a handful of rifles, but now I only have a Lee-Enfield No. 5 MK1.

Like this one...

NO, I currently do not own a gun.

I've never owned one, nor have I personally possessed one outside my military service, law enforcement service, and short stint instructing riflery.

I have handled other's weapons since then, sometimes going out "shooting" at ranges when invited.

I simply haven't felt the need...at least not in the past.

Recent events are causing me to reconsider.

No

I would like one to go target shooting. But I know I would never go. I would be to cheap to spend the money on the range and for the rounds needed. So I never got around to getting one

Take lots of pictures because when the democrats get into power, they're coming for your guns.

Has your family member found it useful in the fight against covid 19? If I purchase one do I fire it after I inject bleach/hydroxychloroquine or before?

Browning 12 Ga pump shotgun around 2000. Still like shooting it.

I got my first gun - a Remington bolt action .22 - at the age of 9, it was a gift from my parents. My second gun, a bolt action Sako in .243, was also a gift from my parents upon entering high school.

I purchased my first firearm at age 22 - a Colt Python .357.

Whether I currently own any and what they may be is no one’s business.

Not anymore. Don't need one where I live. Had a .22 as a kid.

Get one, better to have at least one and never need it than to need one and ....we'll you get the point.

This past week put an end to that for quite some time.

Ahhh... how can you identify a Lefty? By their critical thinking skills, or lack thereof.

I bought my first .22 when I was eleven.

I believe in March of 1969 my grandfather died. I remember my father coming home from the house he grew up in. He had a holster in his hand. I was the oldest of four grandsons. He came up to me and said-this is yours, your grandfather wanted you to have it. It was his 45 Colt that he carried in WWI. At age 13 my father gave me a Browning 22 lever action rifle. At 19, when I was in college, the Perazzi skeet gun my father had ordered for me, came to a gun shop near new haven, CT. One of my friends, had a car and he drove me to the shop: I filled out the paperwork and gave the shop owner 20 bucks for handling the transfer and paperwork. When I was 21, and home from college during spring break, I went to a local department store that carried firearms to buy some skeet shells. They were having a sale, and I bought and paid for my first pistol-a Walther PP in 380.
