People protesting social distancing at Huntington Beach in California aren't armed with AR15's.

And yet, somehow, they are still protesting.

I'm sorry - not meaning to fat shame here, but pretty much everyone of those people has a belly. Every one.

Here is a better question: Armed or unarmed, why do you "need" to protest at all?

to quote one of my favorite artists,

Bob Dylan said:
That's all I do is protest.

Probably because there is some irrational ordinance or legislation that prevents them from doing so .. it's California.

shrug...

Some people need guns, some people need bicycle locks.

The question is...were they actually used.

In California, they are using the CHP as their goon squad.

BTW, Newsom is on the run, by day’s end he will have folded to “social distance might still be enforced now, please stop being mean to me!”

Why would anyone protest against a simple system set up to protect people from disease?

They protested in San Francisco too, back in 1919 as well. I think it has something to do with American nature. The government tries to slow a virus, and you can't let the goberment tell you what to do, so you gather up with like minded individuals, protest, and cough on each other.

they all have legs, arms, heads, noses, mouths and eyes, as well, it seems.

That guy up front seems like the only fat one...

Seriously? You don't see the line of bellies? It's the first thing I noticed. I'm not even really talking about the two chubby girls at the front. Mostly it's the long line of beer bellies that caught my eye.

They all look overweight.

Instead of standing there with a cardboard sign they should be rockin' it on a treadmill.

If I were a government agent, I'd take armed protesters a lot more seriously. Wouldn't you?

Their ability to have an accidental discharge, yes.

Their ability to change opinions, no.

Not having a tiny penis, I do not need an AR-15 at all.

What is the REAL purpose of this kind of poll thread?

Negatively biased answers in all cases except the one you are directing attention to "peaceful protest is the only answer?"

First, how does merely carrying a firearm indicate a "non-peaceful protest?" Is this another one of those "words are violence" ideas? You know, where words can cause offense, hence they are violent? Only in this case the offense/fear is generated by the presumption that if the person is carrying a firearm then they fully intend to cause harm with it?

I suppose the argument would be it is okay to carry any weapon OTHER than a firearm...like sticks, stones, molotov cocktails, firecrackers, bottles of liquid, knives, and bike-locks to name a few? Carried by all those "peaceful" Antifa and other Leftist groups to every "event" they attend?

IMO there is nothing inherently wrong with this kind of display. Much like the men and boys on Lexington Common, who assembled not to start a war, but to show they were free men entitled to peaceably assemble and defend themselves if need be. IMO no one should fear American citizens exercising their Second Amendment rights to do so peaceably here as well.

Not unless their opposition expects to do them harm, and doesn't want them to be able to defend themselves if it becomes necessary. :coffeepap:

You don't need signs, either

That's a rather idiotic poll to use.

You mind not being such a bad faith actor from the start?

Armed protesters should be shot on sight, IMO.

You should have added that to your poll.

Then shouldn't the cops at the protest be disarmed as well?

Well I say opinions are more likely to change when the stakes are higher and there's more to lose.

Cops have training. Even with all the training they get there's still accidental discharges from time to time, but it's rare.

Are the protesters going to shoot someone? I don't think so. There are no stakes other than some idiot forgot to put the safety on.

People have training as well. Regardless of that, you're supporting a double standard - in spite of the slight risk of accidental discharge, you have no problem with people being armed at a protest - as long as they are government agents.

I don't think it's a double standard. Cops carry guns. This is true in America. It's the rule more than it's the exception.

For Protesters, it's the opposite. Protesters don't carry guns. This has been true for most of our history. There's no reason for protesters to carry guns. There's no threat. Worst that could happen is some protesters get arrested. They get a trial.

If it becomes the norm for protesters to carry AR15s, eventually some idiot is going to decide to open fire. Dozens will die. Protesters with guns are an accident waiting to happen.
