Why would we be for forcing another country into being part of us?

Plus, why shouldn't they be at least 10 new states, since the country has 10 provinces that get individual recognition and their own recognition within their government now? Plus, why not make Puerto rico and DC states first?

To be clear I voted no, along with any other person with a lick of sense. I would like a more comprehensive military deal that would allow us to support the Canadian military to help protect the interests of both nations.

I have several Canadian friends who say the Canadian military is a very low priority and training is very low in the nation.

There are Canadians on this board who could share their views.

But beyond that, the proposal was not simply to share military training or strategies, so not at all sure why you would even bring that up. And I doubt any rational person would want Hegseth advising their country on anything.

I am glad to say I am in the majority with this one.
They want to keep their country. What a surprise.
Now all they have to do is work to reduce the trade deficit with them and live up to their commitment of at least 2 percent GDP expenditure for national defense.
Why should they live forever under the low-rent protection of America's nuclear umbrella?

I am well aware there are Canadians on the board. Not my problem. And since you don't KNOW the Canadian military staff (nor do I) you have no idea who would or would not deal with SecDef. That is speculation based on Trump hate alone.

So we can't help them without threats to take them over from Trump?

Do you understand how security agreements with other countries work? That's what we had before Trump and MAGA started screwing over our allies in favor to Putin.

It doesn't matter who would deal with them. The person in charge is still the SecDef and the moron in Chief. Trump is a narcissistic idiot. That is a fact. And he has screwed over many of our allies. They aren't going to trust him, nor should they.

And YOU don't understand how military cooperation works. It's done behind closed doors between General staffs that DOES NOT include being done on the 'nets like DP. As to rhetoric, that's just Trump being Trump. He says goofy shit all the time.

Additionally, If Biden or Harris had proposed this you all would be giggling with delight saying, "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. More liberals" If this is denied by anyone, you're misstating the truth.

They still have to uphold policy set forth, especially with an administration like this one.

Trump is the President. He shouldn't just get away with saying goofy shit.

And no, I wouldn't have been "excited" about this sort of thing regardless of who is proposing it. That's clear bias on your part. You don't get to speak for me at all.
