No crap Dems don't want to do those things now.  He had a majority Republican congress when he was elected.  Unfortunately, many Republicans were against what he wanted to do.  That's one of the biggest reasons why the Dems took back over.  People were pissed their representative wasn't backing the president.  
No, he never tried to block all Muslim countries.  Only those known for harboring terrorists.
