Why not, as long as those high paid PR people working this keep them in and making money it doesn't matter, they can flip flop to kingdom come. People won't care and why should they. Who really has that high standards for music stars, they are just entertainers. No, but they also shouldn't cry and moan and apologize when it comes back to bite them in the ***. Which is what they did.

Than whose buying their music if it's not country listeners, I have only heard their new songs a few times but they are country.Kelzie said:People do care. There's a reason why country stations aren't playing their new songs. Country listeners don't want to hear it.

. . . It’s no surprise that the backlash is still there, given the demographics of country music — generally speaking, country's core audience resides in states where support for President Bush and the war is the strongest. So why risk insulting an audience that gave you fame and fortune in the first place?
"I think I know where your question's leading and it just goes back to the answer that we don't make decisions based on that. We don't go, 'OK, our fans are in the red states.' So I'm gonna play a red, white and blue guitar and put on my I Love Bush T-shirt and … we're not like that because we're not politicians. We're musicians," says Maines. . . .

How can they prove that end users bought them?
For all we know, some millionaire purchased a mess load of CD's to get these pathetic "entertainers" some more spotlight. During their last tour they sold out in tickets, but during performances the people were practically non-existent. I remember seeing a local news snippet about it.
I have gotten up from tables at restaurants (and have not gone back) that have played their music and will not hesitate to do it again. Went to a steak place here in Plano and their crap was playing - I demanded to speak to the manager. The music was promptly turned off.
Capitalism at work.
Well, we all have opinions. They dissed our President and Texas on foreign soil. They are no longer worth my time and money. We both have the freedom to express our opinions as we see fit. I express mine though the pocket book and here of course. They did theirs on stage.aps said:Wow. I am disappointed to hear of your intolerance, vauge, and suprised as well. Your anger towards them gives their word credence. I guess you must know that Bush sucks as president.

Bush & congress is not gathering much of my support lately. This immigration thing has really forced me to rethink my position on the parties in general.

aps said:I certainly support your decision to boycott their music and to leave restaurants when they play their music, but your demand to speak to a manager and force them stop playing their music is your taking away their freedom of expression. How can you not see that?
As to your second paragraph, interesting. You don't like what the republicans are wanting to do with the illegal immigrants?
If there is one thing we can all agree on, it is that we cannot ever agree on music. That is the fact of life. If I heard the Numa Numa song playing, I would be mighty peeved, but that does not mean I am going to leave or ask to speak to the manager. They picked it, and frankly, who cares, the song will be over in 3 minutes - same for the dixie chicks. Talk louder, don't listen, bring ear buds if it offends you that much...but it will only be there for three minutes. Does three minutes truly ruin a good dining experience?zymurgy said:What? Did Vauge place a gun to the managers head as well?
This is capitalism. Vauge simply informed them of the potential of lost revenue. They still had complete freedom to operate in any manner they pleased.

I agree. Perhaps you missed the direct statement that I was rejecting;ShamMol said:If there is one thing we can all agree on, it is that we cannot ever agree on music. That is the fact of life. Does Neil Diamond ruin a good liberal meal with his unabashed conservatism? Nope, as adults we learn that we are above this type of stuff and we can just tune them out or you know, wait 3 bloody minutes. If you want to act like a child, rewrite the words and then sing along in your own conservative version.Calm2Chaos said:Regaurdless of there political blues. I don't want to get in on that comment because frankly, I don't necessarily agree with it. I think that it is any paying customer's right to talk to the manager of a restaurant...and then it is up to the manager. MY point is that he should be above that pettiness.zymurgy said:I agree.
