Disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been sentenced to 11.25 years in prison with 3 years of supervised release

I hate this post because it's true.
My other theory is that since SCOTUS and the right has told us that "Corporations are people"... yeah. Corporations are people until it's time to go to jail or pay taxes. When they get in trouble, they are #4 in my previous theory. They merely pay a fine. Whomever made the product decision that killed people, they don't face any of the repercussions of making that decision because the corporation/person is held responsible for making that decision. Not the human person who actually did. And come tax time, corporations don't pay people tax rates, they pay corporate tax rates. They are there for the benefits of being a person but are not there for the responsibilities of being a person.

Fifteen years at least, of which she likely will only serve 10 years. Holmes pulled off the largest fraud to date, they knowingly produced fake blood test reports for thousands of consumers (some causing serious injury), caused one founder to commit suicide, ruined the lives of many sending lawyers after employees that quit in frustration, etc ect

You can't read the book "Bad Blood" without becoming extremely angry at how she and her boyfriend cruelty terrorized employees, sending investigators to follow them, tapped their emails, etc. She scooped in billions over 10 years, ruining lives, all on a giant scam.

She is a classic psychopath, can't feel any real emotions and a class A manipulator.

She was charged and convicted of federal crimes. Of which she must serve at least 85%

So if she gets out early she will still have served 9 1/2 years in federal prison.

..

You love to see it. Finally a rich fraud goes to prison. But of course she can "turn herself in" for her sentence ooohhhh ... sometime near the middle of next year.

  • Disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes has been sentenced to 11.25 years in prison with 3 years of supervised release.
  • Once dubbed the world's youngest self-made female billionaire, Holmes was found guilty on four counts of fraud and conspiracy in January following a four-month trial that captivated Silicon Valley.
  • She will begin serving her sentence on April 27.
The delay likely has more to do with the fact she's pregnant than for special treatment. Given that this is a non-violent crime, it's less hassle and far cheaper for the state to start her sentence after she's had the baby.

She served 11 months in prison, during which time she was pregnant with Tupac, named for the last Incan emperor, who led a rebellion against Spanish conquistadors. She served as her own defense attorney and was acquitted of multiple counts, earning release from prison in 1971, shortly before giving birth to Tupac.

That was the 1970s...

Elizabeth Holmes deserves jail. But an interesting thought experiment is what did she do that Musk didn’t? Musk killed people by lying about the autonomous capability of his cars. He defrauded people with knowingly impossible promises. And the videos they produced for AI day were deliberate fakes.

The reason she doesn't have to go to prison right away is because she filed an appeal. Most defendants are financially exhausted after the trial. Holmes has the money to put her attorney to work and she stays free until the appeal is resolved.

That's not entirely correct. She's pregnant. The judge is giving her time to have her baby before she reports to prision.
