increasingly i am of the opinion that if you were to study the lefts' attacks, whether it's Europe's attempts to accuse the US of being racist and imperialist or this latest gem of a chamber of commerce 'controversy' a hefty percentage of them would turn out to be nothing more than simple projection.

ah, sweet irony.

In the weeks leading up to the midterm elections, Democrats have assailed Republicans for taking money from outside interest groups they allege are funded by secret, foreign donors. However, the Democratic Party is taking its own large share of financing from groups backed by foreign companies, according to a new analysis.

Democrats this election cycle have received about $1.02 million from political action committees affiliated with foreign companies, according to The Hill and the Center for Responsive Politics....

The Democrats' charges were based on a report from a liberal blog, which said that the Chamber solicits foreign funding for its general account, which it uses to fund campaign advertising. Outside groups like the Chamber have financed campaign advertisements benefiting Republicans over Democrats by a margin of almost nine-to-one in recent weeks. The Chamber has vehemently denied, however, that any of its financing for campaign ads comes from foreign entities.

Democrats have tried to emphasize that, while they have no proof that these groups are using foreign money for their political activities, the point is that their political donors are kept secret.

"The overarching issue here is that we don't know where these entities are raising money," Doug Thornell, a spokesman for Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, told the Hill. "It could be money from foreign corporation, big oil or companies that want to outsource U.S. jobs."

Nevertheless, American Crossroads hit back at Democrats for the apparent hypocrisy of their ads accusing conservative of taking foreign money.

"Barack Obama criticized the Supreme Court and his adversaries over the bogus charge of foreign money tainting elections - while leaders in his own party had taken more than a million dollars from the foreign cookie jar," Jonathan Collegio, a spokesman for American Crossroads, told the Hill.

But that's OK, because they are not using the foreign money to subvert the election process like the GOP is... right?

Just a couple of things:

The donations do not violate any campaign finance rules.

(snip)

These donations, however, are made public through filings with the Federal Election Commission. Democrats, by contrast have accused organizations like the Karl Rove-affiliated American Crossroads and the business lobbying group the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of "taking secret foreign money to influence our elections."

If democrats say republican are taking funds for a foreign government or nation, they must provide evidence. If, however, there point is the money is secret, something that is factually correct, they should emphasize that point and not that there are foreign contributions.

according to The Hill and the Center for Responsive Politics. ...

Let me fill out those ellipses for ya:

The contributions come from U.S. employees of subsidiaries of foreign companies, such as pharmaceutical manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline and aerospace contractor BAE Systems. The donations do not violate any campaign finance rules.

"This is not foreign money per-se, but these PACs are certainly populated by people who work for foreign companies," Dave Levinthal of the Center for Responsive Politics told the Hill.

I personally think it should be illegal for foreign nationals to contribute to our elections, along with groups that have a significant amount of foreign ownership, such as publicly traded companies.

Both parties are wrong on this issue.

This story will mark the end of the main stream liberal media's interest in campaign financing...

So move along people... nothing to see here.

It was on the CBS News website, therefore CBS News covered it.

I really can't believe you are arguing this.

And here I thought this was the "Trifecta of Doom" I might have been slightly off base, I really like this one. If it offends you then help us end their reign of terror on our economy and against Our Constitution by Voting to replace all empty headed mentally challenge folks in the Senate and Congress just a couple weeks ahead.

One of the tactics liberals are taught is to call the enemy what you are to put them on the defensive, just do it before they know what you are doing.

So now we see the facts and I admit to being in bit of shock that CBS has jumped on this story.

I'm wondering if Obama's fall from grace is going to continue to the point the truth and facts might accidentally return to what has been openly a propaganda arm of Obama's for the last three plus years.

No if this story is featured on MSNBC that will be a real shock, but I don't expect they will start being Journalists again anytime soon. Not that they really were.

So if it was only on the website that means they didn't report on it? That's some impressive mental gymnastics.

They probably get more hits on their website than viewers on the news program, but don't let that stop you from moving the goalposts and engaging in utterly ridiculous logic.

Now it's your turn to avoid the question again.

The question should not be 'Did a liberal leaning media outlet cover this'. They did.

The question should be 'Did a liberal leaning media outlet cover this in as much depth and as often as they did the Chamber of Commerce story'. I do not believe they did. Yet.

Jeeez... didn't think I had to spell it out for you. I mean we not school children here.

Posting it on their website doesn't mean jack-ship pal. When the big three do an on-air story about this, get back to us. I won't be holding my breath though, because it doesn't conform to their pro-Messiah ideology, and they don't want to hurt the chances of their anointed one.

So lets move along people... nothing to see here.

Are they equal? I mean this implies that all situations are equal. The media did not cover republicans in the vien that they were guilty. In fact, much of the coverage hurt Obama and democrats more than anything else. This is a much less sensational story as it is completely legal and not hidden. There's no secret here. Nothing illegal. Therefore, not a hot story. Any unbiased person understanding the nature of for profit journalism would not rate the two as equal.

If democrats say republican are taking funds for a foreign government or nation, they must provide evidence. If, however, there point is the money is secret, something that is factually correct, they should emphasize that point and not that there are foreign contributions.

That may be the spin they're trying to use now, but it sure wasn't the point they originally made.
WASHINGTON —White House adviser David Axelrod on Sunday echoed a charge made by President Barack Obama that foreign money was helping to fund Republican campaigns, but didn’t offer any evidence to back up the allegation.

Axelrod, appearing on the CBS show “Face the Nation,” said the U.S. Chamber of Commerce was accepting donations from foreign entities to help fund its $75 million in planned advertising spending for the November mid-term elections.

“The Chamber of Commerce won’t release any information” about the source of their funding, Axelrod said. “All we have is their assertion” that dues paid by foreign members of the Chamber of Commerce are kept separate from the group’s campaign-finance war chest, he added.

CBS host Bob Schieffer asked Axelrod to provide evidence that the chamber was using foreign money. “Do you have any evidence it’s not, Bob?” Mr. Axelrod responded. He added, echoing Obama’s comments again: “That is a threat to our democracy.”

This whole thing is just sleazy rumormongering campaign started by the White House and spread by Obama's sycophants everywhere. Considering that the executive branch controls the Department of Justice, I'm sure if they had any evidence, they'd investigate. Since it's now clear this is just a political ploy, I think they'll just stick with spreading rumors and casting aspersions.
