I've been liberal all my life and I've always supported legal immigration and opposed illegal border jumping. Canada accepts more legal immigration than just about anyone with no problems at all but we do have a problem with illegals sneaking across from the US. Some have arrived with such frostbite injuries they've had to have digits amputated.
And American border agents have been picking up spare cash driving illegals to the Canadian border, just like those coyotes in Mexico.

Venezuela has neighboring countries which can absorb some of the out-flow. Central America does not. They've got Mexico and Mexico's got nothing for them - doesn't want them as they're trying to grow their own middle class. So they come here.

Sanctuary cities are just showing their ass. No State, much less any subdivision of that State, is required to uphold federal law. So they are just refusing to do something they never had to do to begin with. Sanctuary cities cannot ignore State laws, but States do not enact laws that pertain to immigration (at least not since 1808).
