There is no way you can predict these things, but that's why preparation is so important. Even if you had gun control laws in place, these people will still get a hold of this stuff one way or another. The fact that the guy got all guns, weapon platforms, and cameras up to the 32nd floor is surprising, unless if hotel security is just that bad at checking out that stuff. Of course, he could have got it all in by other means. Something else to think about, maybe someone else put it all up there for him. Bottom line is we still don't know how he got them and how they all got up to the 32nd floor. The only piece of evidence there was to go off of is this was not a random act. This was all well thought out and planned. Whether he had a lot of money and bought all that stuff over the years or short amount of time or someone supplied it all to him at a really cheap price (and that it wasn't a gun store), this guy wanted to kill a lot of people for X,Y, and Z reasons.

I'm not going to jump to conclusions on this because we don't know, what caused this guy to do this, other than wanting to kill a mass crowd of people.

What would be a good response then? Besides a total ban, what can be done? Apparently the guns he used were not legal to own. (nothing positive stated yet on how he got them) so more laws wouldn't do anything.

We may have to require hotels and office buildings overlooking concerts and festivals to have metal detectors in place for starters. I am pretty sure this latest shooting will inspire Islamists to do the same.

Time to limit who owns what cars and how many?

(And no, we dont 'need' them. If people were so concerned, there are many options and lifestyles, just like in other Western countries, to go without or use much less. But convenience overcomes THOSE numbers of dead.)

That is kind of of a flawed comparison. For one, we don't have more vehicular deaths per miles driven than most of our peer nations. Secondly, there are countless safety regulations on the design and use of cars.

Sandy Hook was the tipping point, as a country, we are blasé about our young folks getting shot down with auto weapons, there is no easy answer. Perhaps it is time to revise the wording of the second amendment, in its current form, it is not working in modern day America. The Vegas shooter had 10 guns, all legal who knows, but no one needs 10 guns !!

I have family with more than 10 guns, for various reasons. Multiple shotguns and rifles for hunting and sport, and a variety of handguns of differing calibers. Why should they lose their right and freedoms again?

I was afraid I'd have to go through a background check every time I wanted to buy a gun, and all because a bunch of stupid kids were killed. Where's the sympathy for me?
