Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla is forcefully removed from Noem’s news conference and handcuffed

For credentialed journalists. Not the public at large.

Perhaps so. But I believe that Democratic governors and Presidential Administrations can and should treat the Republican opposition with the same level of courtesy shown by the Trump Administration, i.e., like the enemy.

Of course it is.

Government officials do not have a right to not be interupted.

Americans fo have a right to speak their minds to goveenment officials, interupt, ask questions, even rudly.

Take a civics class!
I guess the argument is if you don't say pretty please before you start to go into the redress of your grievances, it doesn't count as free speech,
and you get no mulligan.
These ****ers, man.

I intend to play out my opposition on November 3, 2026 when I vote blue in a red state. Only wish the No Labels movement was an actual viable third party. I see no respect nor quarter given from either major party toward the other.

Did anyone post this information about the penalties for attacking a member of congress? This thread is 28 pages...

18 U.S. Code § 351 - Congressional, Cabinet, and Supreme Court assassination, kidnapping, and assault; penalties

(a)
Whoever kills any individual who is a Member of Congress or a Member-of-Congress-elect, a member of the executive branch of the Government who is the head, or a person nominated to be head during the pendency of such nomination, of a department listed in section 101 of title 5 or the second ranking official in such department, the Director (or a person nominated to be Director during the pendency of such nomination) or Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence, the Director (or a person nominated to be Director during the pendency of such nomination) or Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, a major Presidential or Vice Presidential candidate (as defined in section 3056 of this title), or a Justice of the United States, as defined in section 451 of title 28, or a person nominated to be a Justice of the United States, during the pendency of such nomination, shall be punished as provided by sections 1111 and 1112 of this title.
(e)

That is all well and good, Along Came Jones. But I have only witnessed Democratic abstemiousness. Nothing comparable to what the Trump Administration has done. Personally, I intend only to vote for people who say that they will act as progressive blue MAGA.

No more "When they go low, we go high!" civility politics B.S.

I want politicians who will say "When they go low, we kick them in the face, and we keep on kicking until they learn not to go low. If people want to behave like snakes, they get the boot."

"A spokeswoman for the Department of Homeland Security said that Padilla “chose disrespectful political theater and interrupted a live press conference without identifying himself or having his Senate security pin on as he lunged toward Secretary Noem.”
Yes, anyone who believes this was anything other than a political stunt designed to get such a reaction is an idiot. He even had his own film crew with him. 😂

I've read your previous comments to the same effect. While I understand it, I don't see the strategy as a solution. But then, I presently do not see any solution. Only a hope that the next generations to take power do better.

So, she can just order the police to manhandle anyone for simply asking a question?

Holding a press conference suddenly makes someone king of whatever building they hold it in?

You can watch the video yourself. Did she order the police to do anything? Oh yeah, she said nothing and let security do their job and handle it and said nothing.

Indeed.
shrug...

That Senator just found out about FAFO.
The Senator staged this bit of political theater, the SS, not knowing who he was and charged with protecting the Sec. restrained and detained him briefly, then released.

Yeah, the Senator did FA, and did FO. "Cutesie Time Is Over".

If they are disruptive and don’t follow protocol, they can be removed as we’ve just seen.

Yeah here is the problem.
I dont know if she was fielding questions yet or at all.
From an objective stand point he shouldnt have done that. I get the motivation behind it, but its not gonna work how he wants it.
The arrest was over the top. You just escort him out, but he was fighting some so I get it, but still. Detain and just toss him.

In the end this whole thing was stupid and nothing was really accomplished because then Iran was attacked.

He wasn't arrested.

You just escort him out,
Isn't this what happened?

Detain and just toss him.
Exactly what did happen, apparently.

In the end this whole thing was stupid and nothing was really accomplished because then Iran was attacked.

Being fair and decent has never worked against a mafia.

Hell, it's literally why we have Trump and a MAGA Congress.

The strategy is promoting good things over evil things, or at the very least mitigating harm. If you get genuinely wicked people out of power or shunt them aside, then decent people can actually come up with and effectuate solutions that better the lives of the American people as a whole.

The only way the next generation will be better is for good people of all stripes to launch a crusade against right-wing evil as represented by the Republican Party and make it known that corruption, racism, xenophobia, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and delighted cruelty against the poor and downtrodden shall be met with overwhelming force at every level from the Federal on down. I want anyone's being called a Republican to be made a pejorative slur to be denied and a source of moral outrage in the same way that being called a Nazi or a Stalinist is (or was). Any government employee who refuses to pledge to pursuing progressive public policy should be terminated immediately, and anyone who is found to have voted Republican since 2021 onwards should be immediately fired and blacklisted from working in the Federal Executive Branch.

Sounds like you might empathize or should empathize with MASA, (Make America Safe Again) We do not need another summer of love like 2022, just because Trump haters don't like a duly elected president's policy.
Promises made, Promises kept. :)

I guess you miss Joe and his chaos?

I think Biden did a great job with immigration policy balancing security with our country's humanitarian values. I have zero regrets, and unlike you, I do not view migrants as animals. They are people just like you and me.

With respect to the migrant issue in El Paso, and people sleeping on the streets, the city, state and federal officials acted swiftly and within days, opened beds, rented hotels, bussed people out of the city, and made sure there was infrastructure in place to deal with the situation. Because of those steps, the emergency lasted only about 6 to 8 weeks (late Sept. to early Nov. 2023) before conditions returned to normal levels.

With respect to the migrant surge at the border entry, the Biden team handled the migrant surge flawlessly. CBP instantly activated port-hardening, put up barbed-wire barricades, and organized a disciplined riot-gear line while also coordinating with Mexico's government. Within about 5 hours the bridge was cleared and reopened without a single migrant breaching the U.S. side or serious injuries.

So, as you and your fellow fascists work so hard to paint Biden in a negative light, if we look at what actually happened, and ignore the propaganda, it's clear he did a good job.

I hope your screed is a joke.

You want a one party rule. Just admit it. You want to decide who is good and who is evil. Who is moral, who is not. Who should be allowed to dissent and who should not. Who should have liberty and freedom and who should not. Your idea of a progressive policy is a dictatorship. Oops, there goes the Constitution.
Well, a representative democracy doesn't work that way, sir. This is not Iran. It's USA.
