Definition of an assault weapon

I don't think you give half of s*** about children especially the ones that died in Florida.

The day it happens you start squawking about gun control and think that anyone that owns a gun kills children or at least that's what you accused me of.

Perhaps if you weren't so disingenuous an ignorant people would pay the slightest amount of attention to you. But no victims of this shooting are to be offered up on the altar of your political agenda.

Utterly despicable.
A typical gun banner. They do love accusing us of killing children don't they.

The economic well being of arms manufacturers isn't my concern, and seeing as you're already familiar with my posting history in this thread, I'm not sure why you thought it would be.

Well I figured you didn't care about them and their employees, but was pointing out that it would drastically increase the cost of ammunition for the government as well.

However, I may have been wrong. It appears the US government already has it's own facility that they contract out for their ammunition so it may not have as much of an impact as I originally believed.

Well even a freedom fighter has to feed himself. In addition to mortgage, food, insurance, utilities, and law-related fees, you'll also have to pay the overhead for your illegal ammunition operation.

By making 4000 rounds of ammo for .15 cents each? That sounds tedious.

Could just move to Canada or Mexico and ship them across the border. :p

I don't know though, I think they have pretty strict immigration laws.

yeah. I don't think I'd have a problem there.

And you think of the government over throws the constitution is be alone in my war effort?

You are in la la land. Last time the government tried to say people couldn't have rights the confederacy didn't stop people from owning homes and eating. Not effectively.

So I don't imagine you'd do it. But people do already and bullets are cheap.

Not everybody is you.

stupid hyperbolic nonsense is really all they have.

Every thing they say about it is wrong.

Perhaps lashing out at people is how they deal worth their frustration.

=Cardinal;1068187886]Okay, so make and give away the ammo if that's what you want to do. Since my intended goal was to reduce the death toll, then my solution would be a good first step. If it doesn't reduce the problem to at least to terrorist-death levels, then additional measures can be considered.
$1600 each round dream on. Do you have a clue how foolish that is? What would these measures be?
I'm sorry you get emotional that your hobby is regularly paired with imagery of dead children. My hobbies aren't typically responsible for an average of 9000 murders a year, so I can't really relate to how you must deal with that.
You anti gun people are fixated on dead children for some reason. Pull at the old heart strings, play to guilt? Yeah shootings a hobby and typically I haven't killed anyone with that hobby. You got me/Clax and others mixed up with criminals.

I kind of figured somebody would work it out.

So far nobody's been able to refute the logic of the idea. People keep saying "black market" over and over again but that doesn't actually refute the theory or the goal.

I calculate that with weekends off you could pull in $156,000/year. That's decent money! You should do it! Unfortunately you wouldn't be able to make any important purchases like homes or cars or anything else you'd have to use a credit card or direct deposit for unless you figure out how to launder your money. More likely is you'll have to pay someone to launder it for you since you'll be too busy making bullets to do it yourself. Also, 4000 bullets a day can get to be a pretty big operation, which means you're eventually going to attract attention and get arrested. Whatever's left of the $156,000 is going to go up in smoke from court and lawyer fees.

You're pretty excited at the prospect of being criminal...I'm sorry...freedom fighter...but maybe you haven't thought this through.
A friend of mine was reloading for the county sheriff and city police for the ranges. He started out in his garage with a range top stove for melting lead and a hand press. In about 3 years he had automated it and turned out more than they could shoot then started selling to gun ranges. Yeah made a lot of money.

Regulating bullets to be $1600 each isn't suspending the Constitution. Relax.

So I don't imagine you'd do it. But people do already and bullets are cheap.

Not everybody is you.

Clearly. Well, it certainly sounds like something you would enjoy doing. As they say, "Do what you love, and you'll never work another day in your life."

I'll bet. That sounds like a pretty slick operation.

You can't refute what doesn't exist.

There is no real logic to absurdist humor. That's what makes it funny.

There's no Theory it's absurdist humor it's funny because it's so ridiculous. So there's nothing to refute there.

Saying "it's humor" like a broken record isn't a refutation.

With a trillion or so rounds in private hands it would last until a black market got thriving. It's not rocket science.

It sounds like we don't need any more ammo in the market, and that adding more is just nutty.

Crap 1000? It's all I can do to find them for 7.62x39 tried gun shops, gun shows. Nobody seems to have many, here anyway.

Well.....full disclosure.

yes it would be. The idea is to make it impossible for people to buy bullets this isn't not because of economic reasons.

It's Not something I'd want to do for a living. If it was I'd do it.

The NRA claims in its article, "The Great Arsenal of Democracy" that 25,065,834,000 rounds of .30 caliber ammunition were produced by the United States in the all of World War II. If that's true, and if what you say is true, then that means that private citizens currently hold forty times the total ammunition used in the single largest war we ever fought in. Jesus Christ, dude, that's enough. I mean, wtf.

What are you guys arming for? An alien invasion?

Why are bullets 30 cents each? Why not make them a penny each? Do gun manufacturers hate poor people?

Not all of them are. Some are more expensive some are cheaper.

They cost what they cost because production costs dictate that and the amount of profit allowable by the market. Its all economics.

Why not make them a penny each?
Cost of manufacture.
Do gun manufacturers hate poor people?
I thought we were talking about ammo.

The problem is that your solution is the equivalent of putting a bandaid over an infected wound and think all will be well. Guns are merely a tool and without fixing the root of the issue it will never be fixed.

Sometimes I think we should regulate the cost of internet access at 50,000 dollars a month.

Heck NO. Then most of the kooks on here would be out walking around amongst us all.
Let them stay home, log on, and cuss the other side till dawn's early light.
Polite society would disintegrate in a week.

I never said that as a result of my solution all would be well. It was simply the first in a series of steps until the deaths are reduced to non-insane levels. Just as Trump tried to ban Muslims "until we can figure out what's going on," likewise introducing new regulations by raising the price of ammo to prohibitive levels until we can figure out what's going on is in order.

Afterwards, if we find that some issue unrelated to guns is the problem, then we can address it properly and relax or eliminate the new regulations entirely. In the meantime, we could save tens of thousands of lives.

Heh. That's a good point except that some facets of society already seem to be getting more impolite and I'm not so sure the internet isn't directly behind some of it. The internet is a big part of society. I'm afraid some people might be starting to extend their internet persona over into the rest of their societal interaction.
