Do not be rude, Deuce. The problem is, as many on the left like to say, systemic. It is clear that the porn industry does indeed attract a rather large number of scumbags who abuse and manipulate women physically, emotionally and financially under the cover of a highly-consumed entertainment medium that allegedly allows women to achieve sexual liberation and self-actualization. But in reality, there are so many stories of abuse not dissimilar to this news report (if it did indeed occur, I wish Warm Potato had attached a link to the article). A healthy industry does not have such high levels of abuse or attract people who are willing to produce pornography in criminally coercive and fraudulent manners, as you pointed out.

Perhaps I am giving Deuce too much credit and I do not know enough about the Czech economy, but preying on women's desperation for a way into the Czech modeling industry and telling a young woman "I might be able to get you a good gig, if you would be willing to do me a favor..." might be considered coercive. The coercion being the threat that unless they allow their bodies to be used, they will not be considered for a job.

Like Captain Louis Renault from the film Casablanca letting it be known that in order to get Vichy French passports in order to be able to escape overseas from the Nazis, women were expected to sleep with him. Louis Renault was not directly threatening these women into sleeping with him. But their circumstances and the women's desperation made the situation coercive.

There was treachery in this case in that the "interviewers" failed to deliver on their promises. This was the primary "crime" as such. The women had full control whether they were going to do the deed. If it is coercion it is in its lightest form possible.

When I was young, the ladies knew about the shenanigans that tended to occur on them. I lived in Bakersfield CA, when I was young and many young girls just out of high school would make their way down to Hollywierd and the valley less than a hundred miles away, to try and make it as an actress. There was an abundance of stories and news about said couches. Hell its still a thing as far as I know. These girls may not have known the whole story, but I sincerely doubt they went in blind either.

Last I checked even women don't have the lock on being stupid, and it's their life they should be free to be as stupid as they like.

Certainly. But that cuts both ways. If you are foolish enough to trust some scummy Czech modeling agency that is actually a porn mill, then that is just what happens. But by that same token, if you decide to set up a phony modeling agency and film women having sex with you (perhaps without their knowledge that they are being filmed with the sex acts available on the internet for millions to gawk at), then you deserve everything that happens to you, including felony fraud charges as well as invasion of privacy charges.

The idea that “consent makes it ok” (but then the definition of consent changes when the women in porn say they were misled, the rules change so the producers are always right) is not principle. The government prevents you from consenting to all kinds of things.

It should be obvious, but there’s an entire culture around celebrating pornographers in this society. It’s like Hugh Hefner was idealized for decades like he was some debonair philosopher who liked to sleep with beautiful women, in reality he was a broken man who was so traumatized by his first wife’s infidelity that he spent his career doing decades of revenge porn.

Now we’re seeing how Larry Flynt is being idolized for Hustler. Porn is a rotten industry.

True and it just isn't the porn industry who preys on women. Usually it involves where the male has power and money.,

You can look at some religous leaders over time who have make the porn company owners look like Boy Scouts.
