Customers Called 'Fat Girls' on Restaurant Bill

Denying service to a fat person in a resturant is like a car wash denying service if a car comes in dirty. It is their business to serve people that like to eat. Why would they deny service?

They would not. Someone said that overweight people are not protected from discrimination by law. I was merely pointing out that they were.

Unfortunate, but hilarious. As mentioned before, nobody has the right to not be offended. Don't want to be called out on weight? Put down the fork, fatty.

The dinner bill for three friends at Chilly D's Restaurant stung, but it wasn't the price - printed on the top of the receipt were the words "Fat Girls".

"I got the bill, I was looking at bill [and] I was like, 'Why does this receipt say 'fat girls?'" customer Christine Duran said.

The friends had dined out at the Stockton, Calif., restaurant, which is a part of the Cameo Casino Restaurant, on Thursday. The bill lists charges for three tri-tips with fries and three sodas, for a total of $25.50. A bartender named Jeff had apparently typed in "Fat Girls" to keep track of their bill.

When Duran asked a manager for an explanation, he "had like a smirk on his face, like it was funny but trying not to laugh," she said.

Saw one complainer. She was morbidly obese and Hispanic. Glad the perp, Duran, is also latino.

There will be firings of course (customer service), and the fat girls won't have to pay for their meal as they should have been required to do. As for the "emotionally scarred" fat girls - that must be a permanent state for them considering they are indeed fat girls.

No matter how odious or gross or weird your customers are, it's good business practice/customer service to ignore it. However, a lawsuit here, especially a successful one would be a travesty.

Why would there be a financial award?

What harm was done?

Did the women not know they were fat or did they think other people didn't see them like that?

Call 3 gay women dyke fags and watch the reward they get...or call 3 black women the N word and see how much they get...
why is abusing and denigrating a womans size any less OFFENSIVE...because they werent born fat ? theres evidence of dna or genes that gives people the propensity to be obese from birth...
If its not right for one its not right for anyone to be abused...I stand by that opinion sorry..

Restaraunts should consider the issue of liabillity by serving obese individuals.

Ever see Monty Python's The Meaning of Life ?

Sincve when did the word fat become a denigrating word?

It is not the same at all.

Look at all the other tickets this guy wrote and see what he wrote on those.

Ask a heavy women that question...how is any word offensive...how is any speech hurtful...

If you want to say calling someone fat is ok...then its ok to call anyone you want anything you want...simple as that

Fat is a descriptive word and nothingmore. Hurtful would have been to call them pigs or something like that.

If you ask any overweight woman that does not have a mental hang up about it or is in denial, they will tell you that they are indeed fat.

Every word you call someone else is descriptive..ask an overweight woman and they will tell you the are fat ? lol...do you think If I ask and openly gay person if they are gay they are going to tell me they are straight or a black person is going to tell me..Oh nooooo im not black im white...Lol.

yea for example it would have been hurtful to just pass out 3 food bags instead of plates or to without saying a word start reinforcing their chairs with short 2x4s and wood screws while they were sitting there, or to ask them to leave because they have brought with them trapped in their own gravitation orbit small bugs and flies some long since dead but still circling.

THATS hurtful.

FAT ? That waiter could have been refering to their "PHAT" outfits or something.

Some people or so sensitive.

I think it is terrible that so many would judge a woman's worth by her waistline, however I also think people shouldn't be so fat. Being a bit overweight is fine, but I will say I see people regularly in my line of work who get medically disqualified from working due to weight.... I just find it amazing that someone would let it go so bad the federal government tells them they are too unhealthy to be a safe worker.

In this scenario due to the above feelings I am conflicted, but I do know this calling someone fat doesnt generally motivate them to get thin anymore than calling someone stupid makes them graduate from Harvard.

I always got out of jury duty :) I was in court so fricken often anyway.....I do have a point to make...it seems alot of people in this thread with identifying the three women as fat girls...how about if the same restaurant identified 3 gay people in a negative way like three homos or the 3 or 3 black people in a negative way..would that be ok too ?

Response to OP: They shouldn't have printed "fat girls" on the bill, I think everyone I've seen in this thread so far agrees with that.

Honestly a don't see the problem with people using descriptive terms especially ones that in and of themselves are not derogatory. I've had fat people who I don't know call me "that skinny white girl" they've don't it in an obnoxious way but I let it slide:

1. They're like 3 times my size
2. The men they were with were staring at me

Getting into an argument with jealous women whose fat roles probably weigh more than you do is never a good idea

That is a little bit funny. I know a lot of POS systems (i.e. the computer touchscreens used by most servers/bartenders) frequently allow the server to name their checks as they please. What this idiot apparently didn't realize is that the name he uses also shows up on the customer's check. I doubt very much this was intended to ever get back to the customers. What a moron.

You're a real sweet kid..

Just practical

I get the same **** thrown at me as they do only for some reason they get a pass for calling me skinny and white...while if I called a fat black person "a fat black person" I would be obnoxious, insensitive and racist.
