Comey to testify publicly about Trump confrontations

The AG and DOJ is not the investigative agency, the FBI is. Thats why Comey was asked the question.

That's irrelevant. Comey answered a specific question pertaining to the AG and DOJ, not the president.

That is false.

Or this: Legal experts say Comey withholding Trump memo is legally sound - Business Insider

Courtesy of Paperview here

Goodness, it's amazing how fast just provable nonsense spreads on the right wing.

Nice Try, but your sources are doing way to many verbal gymnastics to be believable. I'm hearing the opposite from legal experts who don't have to parse so hard to make their point. In fact these are by far the first who made any attempt to directly deny it.

The poster I replied to hasnt answered my question, and niether did you ?

Is Comey going to perjur himself ? And if yes, how will he be he primary witness in a obstruction trial ?

Witnesses have to have credibillity, and a after the fact memo and perjury dont really lend much at all to his credibillity

The smell of Trumpanzee desperation is in the air. Such a sweet sweet smell.

I thought we were focusing on high crimes and misdemeanors here ? Impeachment even.

You just tried to change the subject from you claim of perjury which has been refuted several times by different people.

That's irrelevant. Comey answered a specific question pertaining to the AG and DOJ, not the president.

Lol !! The AG doesnt investigate anything and the DOJ is the enforcment arm and the FBI is and has always been the investigative agency.

Comey said " in his experience " its never happened and would be a " big deal ".

Liberals want everyone to believe that the POTUS directly asking the FBI director to shut down a FBI investigation doesnt qualify as a big deal, just so they can get around Comey possibly contradicting himself

You just tried to change the subject from you claim of perjury which has been refuted several times by different people.

No, it really hasnt been refuted. Comey would have to convince Congress that POTUS aksing the sitting director of the FBI to stop a investigation wasnt a " big deal ", or worth bringing up in his original testimony

That's right. In his experience it never happened with regards to the AG and senior members of the DOJ. He didn't say what you think he said.

The smell of Trumpanzee desperation is in the air. Such a sweet sweet smell.

Desperation is claiming the question was directed at the AG and the whole DOJ, not the agency responsible for investigations and the man who ran that agency

That's right. In his experience it never happened with regards to the AG and senior members of the DOJ. He didn't say what you think he said.

He said exactly what I think he said. The AG doesnt investigate anyone and the DOJ is the enforcment arm.
They asked Comey because he ran the agency that does.

He said exactly what I think he said.

No he didn't. At what point in the hearing did Senator Hirono ask him about the president?

The AG doesnt investigate anyone and the DOJ is the enforcment arm.

Who is saying otherwise?

They asked Comey because he ran the agency that does.

Senator Hirono asked specifically about the AG and senior members of the DOJ.

You know, when my son was 8 years old I only had to tell him something once or twice before he understood. You've been told your error dozens of times by amny posters yet you fail to understand. What does that tell you?

His words to the question....

" Im talking about a situation where we were told to stop something for Politcal reasons. That would be a big deal. Its not happened in my experience "

Why would he ommit Trumps, the POTUS's alledged attempt to shut down a investigation as part of " his experience " ?? Was it not enough of a big deal ?

Again, as a witness in a criminal obstruction trial he's useless. It would be him, his after the fact memo ( possibly after the firing memo ) and him perjuring himself in front of Congress.

Interesting. So let's change the facts. Let's assume Flynn appears in front of the FBI or Congress and is asked 1) Did you meet with the Russian ambassador in the U.S. on June the 11th? He answers no. But, he would be perjuring himself if he later admits to meeting with Putin in Moscow in December!

Brilliant theory you got there, Fenton. You'd be a great prosecutor....

Your embellishing Comeys response and Im the liar...Lol !
Also the FBI is under the DOJ

No I'm not. If you think I am, post the transcript and prove it.

And, yes, I know FBI is under the DOJ. So what?

Desperation is claiming the question was directed at the AG and the whole DOJ, not the agency responsible for investigations and the man who ran that agency

No desperation is the constant deflection. Trump is covering something. To suggest otherwise is pure head in the sand stuff.

First of all, please link to your "legal experts." Let's read their analysis together!

Second, no parsing necessary at all. Here's the law:

Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

Note it says, "conceals AND..." It requires more than simply not notifying someone - an attempt to conceal. And the right wing theory is Comey attempted to conceal this alleged crime by Trump by putting the crime in memo form and sharing that evidence of a crime with other members of the FBI, in a felonious attempt to conceal the crime he just shared with others in the FBI! It's laughably stupid.

And your suggestion is the FBI, whose mission it is to uncover felonies, has an affirmative duty to run to the FBI? every time one of the 12,000 or so agents uncovers a felony. Certainly if you find out a felony has been committed and call your local FBI office, you've complied with the law! So who does the FBI report to if not the....FBI! Maybe you think they have to run to a prosecutor, or Sessions himself! It's just absurd. That's all Comey would be doing - running over to Session's office 10-20 times a day to disclose all the felonies Comey became aware that one of his thousands of agents uncovered!

Being qualified seems to be YOUR opinion.

He's a bad president.

You have a serious comprehension problem. I've told you a dozen times that Trump is too incompetent to succeed. Doesn't have the skills to succeed. Note qualified to succeed.

It's not within his abilities to succeed.

Now, reading all of the above, do you think I think I should want him to succeed???

Whether you believe he was qualified or not is irrelevant now, He IS the President of the United States. You obviously never took civics so you don't understand the role of the President, the Congress, state and local governments because you believe for some reason the President is the King and controls your life and our entire economy. That never was the case.

We had two choices in November, Hillary and Trump, I chose wisely because of the true incompetence in Hillary. You chose the status quo and continues to demonize the right choice who is the only one that can make change. It is amazing that someone is office 4 months is already called a bad President as you have offered nothing to support that claim

What you told me is irrelevant because I see no qualifications offered to support your position. You gave an opinion, you are entitled to it as am I. IMO you are wrong and the results will show that. If they don't I will admit I was wrong, the problem is there is nothing you can do about it now but hope for success. I am already seeing it. You choose to buy the rhetoric.

Of course you don't want him to succeed because you are a leftwing radical who is selfish and believe you are more important than you are

No he doesn't. That's called obstruction of justice. Nixon fired Archibald Cox to prevent the truth from coming out. That too was obstruction of justice.

Trump has pressured a couple of others in top spots in the intelligence community to keep quiet.

Nixon was a crook...and I opine that the truth will come out and prove that your president is also a dishonest as hell, and corrupt man.

LOL, just another very misinformed comment from someone who believes they are superior and never wrong on any issue. In order for obstruction of justice there has to be a law violated but there was none that you have offered. You live in your own little liberal dream world where the world revolves around you

I've apparently spent a lot more time observing and researching Trump for decades. Why do you ignore the obvious sinister things that this man has done and it completely capable of, which by the way, I totally believe won't turn out good for America.

What has Trump done to me or my family? What difference would that make?

He's currently ****ing you, your family, and every other citizen. Open your mind, eyes, ears.

It's so clear that Trump's character, or lack thereof, has been chronicled for fricking decades. His life is there for all who is willing to examine it.

your investigation of Trump for decades is irrelevant now as he IS the President of the United States, either get behind him and hope he succeeds or leave and go to another country better suited for your ideology. You serve no purpose here other than to show your own disdain for leadership and for the President of the United States. Still waiting for how he has hurt you and your family as you totally ignore the local, state, and Federal Govt. outside the Presidency.

No, it really hasnt been refuted. Comey would have to convince Congress that POTUS aksing the sitting director of the FBI to stop a investigation wasnt a " big deal ", or worth bringing up in his original testimony

You keep stating a falsehood. Who speaking for Comey said he was asked asked to STOP A INVESTIGATION? Nobody except you.

How ****ing smug of you. I've forgotten more civics than you have ever known. When you attack me for not supporting YOUR president and virtually condemn me for not buying his **** or willing to suck his dick like so many are...and clearly go out of you way to insult me, I suggest that that you have failed to care that YOUR president is a con, a grifter, a scammer, one day, and have no doubt the day is coming that you will hang your head in shame.

It's obvious that you can't help but stalk me, and like needing a shot of dope, you need me to say to you some very specific words. I've wasted way too much of my time telling you repeatedly that your president's failure is imminent and it's driving you crazy.

I suggest you do yourself a favor and really do some serious research about your president and finally admit to yourself just how wrong you are about Trump.

Since you've resorted to nut punching and then really slummy attempts to insults me, you need to find someone else who might give a **** about your man crush on Trump.

Comey's side ? Here's comey side. On May 3rd he testified under oath that NO ONE has ever tried to improperly influence a investigation.

I think you want the side of enraged Liberals who've turned towards conspiracy theories as a way to cope with Trumps Presidency's side, not Comeys

sorry, there is a subtle, but important distinction here. Your editorial ("...NO ONE has ever tried to improperly influence a investigation..") is not exactly consistent with Comey's testimony. Comey said that not in his experience has anyone TOLD ("ORDERED") the FBI to halt an investigation.

That is quite different from someone asking you to layoff / throttle back (which has been the implications I have heard...others?), something to that effect. I doubt Comey is going to testify that he was TOLD not to do something; but he was asked, with full deference to his prerogative, to which he likely responded something to the effect of "...No, Mr. President, you know I can't do that..."

Trump may have told Comey to take it easy on Flynn, who knows, its Trumps word against Comeys, but thats not going to amount to a obstruction charge.

Plus, Comeys a damaged witness in a criminal proceeding. He kept the obstruction attempt by a sitting POTUS to himself, which is hard to explain.

He would contradict his previous tetimony, subtle or not, and notes written after the fact a by a director whos motive could include payback for getting fired, well thats not going to be enough either.

I think the Left should temper their expectations.

And yet your hero is looking like a guilty man at every turn. What is he hiding?

Maybe for people for whom evidence isn't a requirement.

For instance, defending someone against vitriolic speculation doesn't make them my hero.

If Comey actually believed that was happening, than by not reporting it to the Justice Department in timely manner he committed a felony punishable by 3 years in prison.

It would not even matter that Trump were never charged with a crime. Based on the notes no reasonable person would ever believe Trump was trying to obstruct justice.

Then I suggest you contact AG Sessions and tell him to get busy arresting him.
