CNNredd, Republican in name only...

1. How old are you?

2. Are you sure you live in America?

3. Do you have any kids?

4. "A studio apartment" what state are you talking about?

5. Do you support yourself or are you a college student being supported by mommy and daddy?

6. If you don't give them a free lunch they will starve to death and never be able to work.

Stop being so naive.

Really. Here in Orlando you can't live anywhere on your own working on minimum wage. And that's even assuming you can get a full time job now that so many companies like hiring minimum wage workers part-time so they don't have to give them benefits. Oh sure, the system just takes care of itself if everyone's just willing to work.

It is not hard to keep your head above water in america. A 40 hour job even at minimum wage pays for a studio apartment and utilities. And 40 hours per week isn't even that much work.

If you give people free lunch, they will take it. If they have a choice between working or not eating, they will choose to work.

Accommodating sloth does nothing but make more sloth.

Ha. That's funny. You obviously haven't done the math on this, have you?

I've already done it in one thread, I'm too lazy to do it again right this minute, but suffice it to say that $5.15 an hour, 40 hours a week, is NOT enough to live on, at least not out here....the cheapest apartment I could find online for my research was $349 I think.....which comes out to over $4,000 a year, and guess what? Making $5.15 an hour, they'd barely be making $10,000 a year BEFORE taxes. Spending half of your income just on housing isn't exactly keeping your head above water.

Yes, He has no idea what he is talking about and clearly doesn't support himself, which is why I asked him if he lives with or is supported by his parents.

If you have young kids you also have daycare to contend with. Daycare is extremely expensive, even tough on people that make good money. My guess is that he is a 18 or 19 year old college brat supported by his parents. One day he will learn the hard way.

My daughter works part time, without benefits, on minimum wage. What is her average work week? 38 hours. Often more, because she is dependable and a hard worker. She brings home about $200 a week after taxes. You cannot find anywhere to live in this town, outside of perhaps some transient housing downtown, for that kind of money. Then add utilities, food, gas, car insurance, clothing, etc. There is no way someone - even a young, single person - can make it on their own in a moderately-sized city on minimum wage. No way. I get paid fairly well and it's still a struggle to get through each month with my kids, even with one of them working. Time for a reality check.

Companies love to play the part time game to get out of paying benefits. However, it is so absurdly expensive for them too. This is why we need National heath reform, Mixedmedia. I think middle class is becoming almost nonexistent these days.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about health care reform. There is no reason an American citizen should worry about their access to health care. It is outrageous. And the middle class is nonexistent in the form it was initially conceived, as the cost of living combined with wage disparities have split the class into upper and lower middle classes - with the upper class struggling with disproportionate amounts of debt and the lower class barely getting by.

Oh I'm sorry, you didn't say much worth responding too. I was too busy sparring with the other 50 billion liberals JUST LIKE YOU on this site.

The only thing more annoying than a liberal is someone who says they are conservative and then attacks conservative leadership.

Aright here goes mr. iknowmoreaboutspendingthanyoudo:

While pumping more money into the Pentagon and foreign aid programs, the budget for the 2006 fiscal year would slash funding for a broad array of other government services as part of the deepest domestic reductions proposed since the Reagan era. In the long term, the fiscal plan envisions holding non-security discretionary spending flat for the next five years to fulfill Bush's promise to cut the deficit in half by 2009.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A4563-2005Feb7.html

Spending more on the military and less on useless social programs is not what I call liberal spending.

Read your own article there chief...you're ignorant in several ways.

1. This is a proposed budget. It means nothing. When the budget, in its mangled, bloated format finally passes, get back to me. If you look at the past 5 budgets Bush submitted, they all resulted in huge spending growth.

2. "The deficit will be cut in half by 2009." Most misleading fact of all time. Yes, it will be cut in half (in theory, which never happens in practice)....from this years $427,000,000,000 budget. That's nothing to be proud of.

3. I have no problem with spending more on the military. I agree. But when we do so, if we're going to cut taxes, then cut domestic programs FURTHER to make up for the cut. No pansy ****.

4. The budget makes a lot of foolish gambles. It is planning on saving 60 Billion by uncovering medicaid fraud. Not gonna happen.

5. That medicare presciption drug benefit BUSH pushed through? Supposed to cost 400 BILLION over 10 years? Actually gonna cost 395 BILLION over FIVE years.

6. That "budget cut in half" figure assumes that war spending will continue to decrease and end when the current allocation ends.

Lets see a show of hands for who actually believes that. Alright. thats what i thought.

I would ask where you got your information, but then again you go to NYU. Lol. What a terrible school.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/01/30/elec04.cv.nyu/

Yea, we have plenty of douchebag hippies. Newsflash. I was one of the 30 or 40 College Republicans who worked at the RNC and for Bush in 04.

And those earlier figures? From the omb.

You think you incite, do you?

Put it like this, if I weren't here, you would have won the asshole election. For entirely different reasons.

Put it like this, I followed Canuck and Ayran around, yet I strangely pay little attention to you.

Put it like this, if this thread had not cnreed in the tittle, I would have bypassed it.

From what little I've read of your posts, it seems to me that if Navy and Canuck had a deformed child it would be just like you.

From the glance I took at this thread, you seem to universally hated. Which makes me think...maybe you need some attention. There has to a reason why I haven't gave you much love. I've got this subconscious tickle that tells me maybe the kids need someone to cut their smack teeth on, or that going after you would be like playing chess with a retard, maybe my fondness of all things monkey has something to do with it, one shouldn't play with ones food, I can't bear the thought of the French having someone to look down on, you can't count to 21 even when naked, you're dad is also your uncle or your mom is your aunt, depending which way you look at it, you are the youngest person to wear adult diapers, one thumb has been sucked larger than the other, hookers charge you double, after three tries at kindergarden the Principle looked your mom square in the eye and said, "apparently school is not for everyone," your family still claps when you go potty, Santa brings you jack shi*t, the tooth fairy gives you money for adult teeth you leave under your pillow, the purple one is your favorite tubby, cats make you horny, you still haven't figured out who that ugly fuc*k in the mirror is, you sleep with a Al Gore doll, mom tapes a spoon to your hand at dinner, your favorite person is Uncle Tim because he has a laser pointer you like to chase, your pajamas have feet, dunno, can't quite put my finger on it. It will come to me.

****Where have you been Teacher? Looks like I've found a liberal that is willing to fight back. Once we get past your inane diatribe ramblings--we may just have some substance in which to start a debate, although, if you're anything like this CNNcrudd phony--I doubt you'll be much of a challenge either. Was there something in the above mess that we could start a reasonable debate with? If not, perhaps you'll just have to resign to the fact that Navy Pride will continue to make you look stupid at every turn. HeHeHe!

Liberal? That's grand. Libertarian. That means I hate everyone. So don't be feeling all special like. Figures you'd mention Navy. I've read maybe five of your posts. cnredd is right, you have usurped Navy. Debate? Sure. Here's the topic I started but you seemed to miss. You suck. I've plenty of posts to rebuke. But being as you are a sexist Nazi we'll try one of the issues I come down left on. Being gay is not a choice. Please disagree. Another. The Republicans, just as the Democrates did when controlling the White House and Congress, send blindly, with little regard for the debt. Bush has not vetoed one spending bill.

Know anything about pyramids?

****I see you're pulling a CNNcrudd with me here. OK, I'll go along with your game by not calling you a liberal for now. I was one of the first people to get in on the ground floor of the "Pyramid Scheme' back in the 1980's when you were probably too young to say 'suck', and know what the word meant. I made a lot of money on the game with sending out many letters to suckers along the way.
Being gay is not a choice? First, that issue is neither a left or right issue. I think we have found a great subject in which to disagree. I believe we might have to tweak the word 'choice' in reference to being gay in order to make sound judgements one way or another. I will start a new thread later tonight titled 'You are not born gay'.
I'm getting ready to watch 'The American Idol' at 8 PM est. You see, I have a relative that is probably going to win the contest outright, so she needs my undivided attention and true support through the preliminaries.

ps: those that come down on the left side (or wrong side) of any political issue, have already lost. You only embarrass yourself by fighting the losing battle. History is on my side, or on the right side. Oh, are you really a teacher, or is that another ruse?

Whatever, I get it. You and Navy are the only true conservatives. Sexist, racist Nazi's is more like it.

Long before the 80's were over I was honerable discharged from the US Army. So you don't research your attempted insults. Just shows you're stupid and/or lazy.
I made a lot of money on the game with sending out many letters to suckers along the way.

It would only be a ruse if I didn't often post I am not a teacher. But I will be taking your dumb ass to school.

Unskilled and Unaware of It: How Difficulties in Recognizing One's Own Incompetence Lead to Inflated Self-Assessments

People tend to hold overly favorable views of their abilities in many social and intellectual domains. The authors suggest that this overestimation occurs, in part, because people who are unskilled in these domains suffer a dual burden: Not only do these people reach erroneous conclusions and make unfortunate choices, but their incompetence robs them of the metacognitive ability to realize it. Across 4 studies, the authors found that participants scoring in the bottom quartile on tests of humor, grammar, and logic grossly overestimated their test performance and ability. Although their test scores put them in the 12th percentile, they estimated themselves to be in the 62nd. Several analyses linked this miscalibration to deficits in metacognitive skill, or the capacity to distinguish accuracy from error. Paradoxically, improving the skills of participants, and thus increasing their metacognitive competence, helped them recognize the limitations of their abilities.

**Interesting bit of pap there Moon. I have a favor to ask. Could you (if your busy schedule allows) find similar philosophy that gives appropriate details and statistics to those that 'generalize' their statements, and avoid addressing a particular issue, and call people names because they haven't the expertise to 'debate' the issue at hand, thus the taking of the easy way out from embarrassment?
I would also like to hear your theory on why some people here claiming to be Conservatives with the elephant avatar and all...tend to belittle most of the conservative movement and it's leaders, yet rarely exert as much energy in going after the Liberals among us. I could clue you in on what these type of people are called, like turncoats, moderates or 'moderators', but I just soon get your astute take on, and proper label of these moderator types, along with your statistic percentage of these people that have become traitors to the cause, and weak in the knees and backbone.

Know why? Because I don't just criticize, I offer arguments for what I think that the "conservatives" in government should be doing in the hope that I can convince like minded individuals to support these policies with their voting. I argue about the republicans because I WANT them to succeed. Why would I offer advice to the Democrats? They're doing an adequate job of screwing themselves over on their own.

If you're coaching basketball and your team is playing poorly, do you criticize their play, pointing out where they should do better, or just spend all your time talking about how much the other team sucks?
