(CNBC) Education Department says Columbia University fails to meet accreditation standards

And snobbery won’t save them from meeting the same fate as ITT Technical Institute if and when they lose accreditation for failing to adequately remedy antisemitism. That’s a pretty wild hill for Columbia to die on in the 21st century.
You're comparing Columbia University to ITT Tech.

LOL

🤣

They're not going to "die" on this hill. Columbia will never lose their accreditation because Linda McMahon thinks they should.

Columbia has lost a lot, by capitulating to Trump - they're the embarrassment of the Ivys now, and it'll be a while before their reputation recovers. But not for the reasons you think.

Because the Constitution has nothing to do with what a private university like Columbia allows on its campus.
Hmm…let’s see, who would know the Constitution better?

You or Columbia?

😂😂😂

Hysterical post comparing Columbia with ITT Tech

😂😂😂😂

Do you expect to be taken seriously when you post shit like that?

From what I’ve observed, you don’t have a serious bone in your body so certainly not by you. Tell me more about Jewish space lasers.

Um, anyone who’s even taken an elementary civics course knows that the First Amendment is only binding on the government not on private institutions like Columbia.

It's against the law to discriminate, that is, to deny the rights, privileges and protections of the Constitution, to groups identified as "protected classes" based on legally defined characteristics.

What "rights, privileges and protections" were denied to any "protected groups?"

(CNBC) Education Department says Columbia University fails to meet accreditation standards

I'm not eager to add a third thread in one day, into the busy Breaking News Forum. But, I felt this news item was too important to pass over.

It appears the Trump Administration has found Columbia University does not meet accreditation standards, and has informed the relevant accreditation agency (Middle States Commission on Higher Education) of the violation.

This is huge. Accreditation is required to receive Pell Grants & Student Loans, and even determines whether degrees and transfer credits will be accepted by other academic institutions, professional societies, and in Industry.
I'm blown-away that the future of an academic institution is at the hands a government administrative determination.

I mean... as long as institutions take federal money, the federal government will have the power to take it away.

1. It is good that Columbia face serious consequences in the face of it's behavior. If it had been black students or Muslim students being treated this way, this would have happened long ago (actually it never would have really started, as Administrators would have landed on that with strict consequences immediately).

2. However, it does indeed set a precedent for this kind of power to be used by the next Democrat Administration. Expect schools who don't allow males to play in female sports (or something similar) to face similar accreditation threats in the future.

I hate to be the one to break it to you, but Mrs. Professional Wrestling isn't Judge Dredd.

Her word is not "the law."
The action isn't based on one person's word. It's based on a specific law, Title VI of the Federal Civil Rights act.

That's the law.

It's anecdotal, sure - but from what I've been hearing, all the forms that capitulated have been shedding talent and clients left and right.
There have been some high profile defections as well reported on recently as well.

The Dept of Education and DOJ have civil rights offices...

Let me take that back.

The Dept of Education and the DOJ had civil rights offices that would have been the best vehicle to remedy the situation.

I think the anti-Trump movement has to stick together, 100% unified, against every single thing Trump does.

Trump's picking us off, one by one, and we're allowing it.

If you want to help Trump strengthen his movement by trolling the left into taking unpopular positions on 80/20 issues... that is one way to do it.

Remember Democrats refusing to applaud a kid for beating cancer, because it as Trump honoring him? - slightly facetiously - Don't be Democrats who stand united against children surviving cancer just because it's Trump honoring them.
