Clinton announces ‘National Service Reserve’ for millennials

I know that. This would be an option that is not military related.

Anyone wanting college benefits can join the branch of their choice. Socirty would be better for, because of the discipline instilled in the younger generation.

I agree with that. I tell people to sign up and do their 4 or 6 if they want free college all the time, but I think a service program that focuses on community service and things like that may help create a better society too. Not everyone is built for the military so I support another option.

You want to start a work program for people who are too worthless to serve in the military? It's a joke before it gets started. It'll produce nothing, but a money pit for tax dollars.

Nope, just for people who don't want to join the military in order to have affordable college.

Or they could actually do their job while in school and get good grades. Several states give free tuition to their best students who go to their state university.

Not all states, but that sounds good too.

What are they going to do, while in the program? If they're aren't motivated enough and have the work ethic to make it in the service?

Maybe they don't support war. Not everyone does. They could be more motivated by community service than whatever rate they land in. I saw plenty of unmotivated people while I was in the Navy.

Lol, affordable college. The government paying for college makes it less affordable.

It does to an extent. And its still not affordable. In fact, the IRS is one of the major reasons I'm not in college any more.

It doesn't decrease the cost of college in any sort of way. It increases the amount of individuals that go to college and decreases the importance of people being able to afford what the service costs.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it sounds like a pretty good idea. If applied right, it could probably be especially good for poor and inner city kids. Serving others is so good for one's soul and self esteem and for those who are poor to get a little extra money, I'm fine with it.

The Merchant Marine and Coast Gaurd aren't combat oriented branches.

What are the standards going to be and how will they be enforced? Will the standards and enforcement be on a level higher than say, the VA?

Oh wait, you were one of those calling Snowden supporters 'traitors'.

No, I called them gullible.

Not to mention last time I checked there weren't any mass executions going on in America.

:lamo :lamo :lamo :2rofll:

The fact that they hero worship somebody who ran away to Ruusia, of all places, and complained about the state surveiling it's people was just case in point.

Case in point my ass you're just digging a hole without even realizing it.

Oh really?

Snowden blows whistle on NSA programs--- not just the one in question, but a ****-ton of other unrelated programs as well.

Snowden flees to avoid consequences of his actions--- to a country which has had a long and dark history of surveillance--- and worst--- against the populace.

Not to mention trying to turn them into psychological/ideological machines. Its like Hitler Youth 2.0

You are unhinged.

For now, take a Xanax. When you're old enough to have a good stiff drink, do.
