Another member suggested this recently, and when I heard it, I thought it was a very good suggestion.

For new threads in the Politics forums - and frankly, any of the other highly charged forums, like abortion or religion - make it rule that anyone who starts a new thread must ensure their OP is "clean" of all baiting, trolling, and other such language as may lead to problems right off the start in the thread. No insults, no pejoratives, no negative insinuations, group name-calling, etc. - iow, a "clean start" thread.

Things'll no doubt descend very rapidly, as do most threads around here do anymore, but clean starts might help tone things down a bit.

You people think an anodyne expression of Christian faith is an attack on the President. You are incapable of objectively assessing a “clean start.”

So, I guess the thread title: "*****-hat Wearing Demon-rats Cry Into Their Security Blankets Over Election Loss" would be a "no-go" for you?

I don't think it'll help. The insults, perjoratives, negative insinuations and name calling will continue...until the mods put a stop to that stuff.

There's a select few around here who do not know how to communicate without name calling and hurling insults. How quickly the topic become more about the other posters than the original subject matter. If you think everyone else is dumb and/or ignorant you can forget about starting with a clean slate. It'll never happen.

Unlike people who think men can get pregnant and can't define a woman.

The general political forum has become primarily a Trump bashing forum. I see the ratio running at 90% anti-trump posts...often rants. A few in here want to discuss issues from a more or less factual basis and hopefully if not agreement, an understanding of the position. I have put a lot of people on ignore so there are many posts I don't see.

Maybe we need more mods then.
Even if more mods were added, there’s no way mods can police every new thread looking for something that someone else might consider baiting. As much as we may act like it, we’re not children. If we don’t like the OP of any thread, we can either skip it or wade in anyway. Every conversation is what we make of it.

You people who live in a bullshit information bubble get offended when confronted with reality.

I'd say there are plenty of mods I can't seem to stay out of the soup.

Your dander seems to rise easily.

You could use that same argument for having no moderation at all.

Either we have moderation on DP or we don't. And if we are going to have moderation, we should have enough mods for the job.

How does one start a thread devoid of any negative insinuations?

It can be argued that your OP for this thread made negative insinuations about the posting community of this site.

How about no?

Nice sciolism.

It could also be argued that you've been immersed in this atmosphere far too long to know anything else. /s

But c'mon - do you really think it that difficult to start the sort of thread I'm [only] suggesting?
