Law enforcement experience, or just internet experience?
I'm not saying what the answer is - I'm not getting into that debate.
However, what I'm saying is that this lawyer is filing this lawsuit in order to force state legislatures to have that debate and to come up with solutions, if only to fulfill their legal obligations in protecting school students in order to prevent future lawsuits against them.
Hopefully, they will come up with some reforms that do actually better protect students.
Poor reasoning. The shooter would not know which teachers are armed, presumably even as a student of the school and CERTAINLY as an outsider. If you think a uniformed guard in the open obstructs someone intent on mass murder, you're not thinking right. Shoot the guard first, end of defense.
A teacher(s) needn't patrol. When the shots start going off, maneuver and engage.
The objective cannot be prevention - that's impossible. The objective must be mitigation and immediate effective response. Like an ambush, return fire immediately or everyone dies.

So now we have a surviving child's parents looking to cash in on a 'forseeable harm' claim- nice.
Maneuver and engage. Ambush.
These are teachers you're talking about. REAL LIFE IS NOT AN ACTION FILM.

Many of these classrooms only have one door...That's one way in, one way out....Couldn't we just install doors on the outside of the classrooms with fire escapes for those on upper floors?
That would work for schools that have a central hallway and classrooms only on exterior walls, which was not how the schools I attended were laid out.
I agree that the layout of most schools is extremely poor tactically. Shooting galleries full of helpless victims. That is why these psychos pick them.
You seem surprised by this. I'm not. And I predict that families of ALL the victims will sue before the year is out.
I was surprised that te first lawsuit was by parents who had not lost a cild.

Are you kidding me? Think about who they are suing. They are suing all of the taxpayers in their school district, i.e. their neighbors. Their lawyers, of course, get their share and the rest goes to the parents of those school children.
So? There are causes of action against public officials. Government immunity does not attach in every instance. And they have liability insurance if they have a lick of sense, which I doubt.
