A Cherry Hill High School East sophomore who challenged Tea Party champion Michele Bachmann to a constitutional debate says she is concerned for her personal safety.
"A lot of them are calling me a whore," 16-year-old Amy Myers said, referring to anonymous comments reacting to online news reports about her challenge to the 55-year-old Minnesota congresswoman.
What is wrong with people? We should be applauding someone that age being interested enough in our nations and its politics that she would even bother to write a letter to our elected representatives. Instead this person receives threats?
I am suspicious of the facts in this case, and who would threaten someone unless it was all a set up.
I'm sorry but the Liberals are getting desperate to find a way to shut down Conservatives and they are not above going this.
Just a thought.

I can under stand Bachmann's reluctance to debate a high school student, maybe Amy should try Palin? Nothing that the tea baggers would do would surprise me.

Not that I'm defending the stupid internet comments (which, from the looks of it, are about as stupid as you'd expect internet comments to be), but no, we really shouldn't be applauding attention-seeking behavior.
Big whoop, anonymous people on the internet hate her. Sorry but if you make the news in any sort of political way whatsoever, there's going to be internet commenters saying mean things about you. This is really a non-issue, based on something that was already a non-issue to begin with.
"I got a call from the principal that the main office received threatening mail," said the computer programmer and single father.
I would agree with you if it were just random sites, however
Doing stuff like this crosses the line with me.
True. Some people are too whacky to contain their whackiness on the internet, sadly.
Still, if she wanted to be treated as politically equal to Bachmann, well, wish granted I guess. (I can only imagine how much threatening/hate mail she gets.)
:lamo It couldn't just be idiots on the internet being idiots on the internet, no, it has to be a deliberate conspiracy. You're a tad too partisan there Councilman.
Let's not pretend though that nobody on the left would be capable of such a thing. Just sayin'.
So you think it was a conspiracy?
Interesting.
I think his point was the left is capable of doing similar acts. Not that the people sending these things to this girl are from the left.

I will wait to see his response, but given that he quoted Spud's laughing at Councilman's comment about a conspiracy, its a logical conclusion that X is trying to defend Councilman.
I responded to Spud because he mentioned something about being partisan, as I think it would be partisan to assume folks on the right are the only ones who would do such a thing. I do see, though, how you misunderstood my post.
Obviously there are idiots on the sides of the aisle, which is why I didn't bring that point up in the first place. This was more of a general appeal to our collective humanity, which is deeper than our individual ideologies.
I would so date this girl if she wasn't 16.
