Chefs Call Proposed New York Salt Ban 'Absurd'

Going to grow all of your own veggies?

Not sure why the two are related. It's been years since I ate any frozen prepared foods, and fresh veggies are available year round.

I think we need to follow the money trail since this is absurd on the face of it.

We have heard there has been a major push to limit sugar in soft drinks and remove them from schools Now it's salt in NY.
To be fair, the push to limit soft drinks isnt a bad one by any stretch. Soda isnt good for you and to have it avalible at the quantity it is in schools now is ridiculous. I probably shaved a number of years off my life with the stuff in high school.

I'll make this as concise and to the point as possible excuse the curse words but it is to make a point:
It is no one's ****ing business, including the local, state, or federal government's in what someone wants to consume as long as there is not an immediate public safety concern, and even then it is only for cases where a clear and present danger poses itself to the public at large. Some people say too much soda is bad for you, too ****ing bad, I enjoy it and am in fantastic shape. Cigarettes kill? So do people in the middle of a nicotine fit if you stand between them and their chosen vice. I had too much to drink and the bar cut me off, their perogative, if you are trying to do the same as an officer with no justification I will tell you to mind your own business, I KNOW when I have had my limit(I can feel it) and will stop at that time.

When I have to deal with rising costs of healthcare because someone is diabetic and morbidly obese because they cant stop sucking soda down it BECOMES my business.

Nobody is saying DONT DRINK SODA! People just want to limit how avalible soda is to kids. Skyrocketing rates of childhood obesity and diabeties I think are reason to be concerned.

Why would you be paying those costs exactly? Considering medical care is a personal responsibility and insurance premiums are rated to risk.

Funny, I thought that was their parents job.

So take an advocacy position, but when you advocate for more nanny laws, then we have a problem, i.e. it is NOT your business, and certainly not government's.
