Car theft so bad in San Fran they leave their car doors open

No, it’s time that the reign of criminals who are destroying our cities come to an end, and it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement, more aggressive with the changes in our policies, and less tolerant of all the bulls--- that has destroyed our cities.

The US has the highest crime rate, the highest incarceration rate of any western country. It is the toughest in crime, has in general the longest prison sentences, and yet still has high crime.

"... crime rate per 100,000 population ..."

17. Texas 2,809.63
18. California 2,772.42

The first one's not a state:

1. District of Columbia5,416.09
2. New Mexico3,944.96
3. Alaska3,777.89
4. Louisiana3,711.29
5. South Carolina3,451.58
6. Arkansas3,442. 67
7. Oklahoma3,277.08
8. Tennessee3,247.83
9. Alabama3,185.26
10. Missouri3,133.66

Breaking it down by state is completely stupid, especially when you consider that one large municipality can impact the numbers of the entire state.

Yeah, it's about time America try 'law and order.'

Car break-ins are so bad that car owners are starting to just leave their vehicles wide open so if their car isn't damaged. They just take everything of value out ahead of time. This is what we've come to in certain parts of the country.
This reminds me of what car rental companies tell tourists visiting Hawaii to do: Not to leave anything visible in the rental cars, and to leave them unlocked because in Hawaii the local youth are nothing but a bunch of thieving magpies.

Chuckle.

And as we've pulled back from policing it's gotten even worse.

I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist. That statement was nearly identical to one I read this morning ... from the very progressive mayor of San Francisco, London Breed.

From the WSJ (paywall):
“It’s time that the reign of criminals who are destroying our city—it is time for it to come to an end,” Ms. Breed said Wednesday in a fiery speech that defied her previous tolerance for growing public disorder in her once charming city. “And it comes to an end when we take the steps to be more aggressive with law enforcement, more aggressive with the changes in our policies, and less tolerant of all the bull— that has destroyed our city.”

Even your progressive leaders are waking up.

From what I've heard, she's not progressive.

Yes, SF has a very strong conservative voter base.

She's decidedly moderate for San Francisco, and she's got a lot of corporate money behind her.

I'm just asking questions. It seems like you really want to find those cars.
No, you're not. You're writing a dumb ****ing post which is intended to deflect and or downplay the matter. You do this in everything and it's ridiculous that you get away with it.
I'm not seeing that. Interesting that the first photo shows someone coming back from surfing with their trunk open. Yawn...
It's literally from local news so your "not seeing it" falls flat of mattering. I live in San Antonio and I don't even come close to personally seeing everything that happens here. What a ridiculous premise you have there.

That's an exciting theory, but I don't think it's going to get anyone's stereo head unit back. Someone has already suggested getting stereos with a removable face plate. I used to have one of those in the 90s.

Sure thing.

The combination of capitalism and democracy has lifted more people out of poverty worldwide than any other invention in human history. You should be in awe.
Capitalism with socialist trimmings.

Bravo. One would think someone in that role is meant to add to the conversation, and he never does.

No, I'm saying that you apparently are not familiar with the news axiom...if it bleeds it leads. Take a look at what is actually happening in the City. Only a fool would interpret "I'm not seeing it" as it's not happening.

I have no idea how bad the problem is in the “liberal bastion” that is SF. From the time I was a passenger in a car and later a driver of a car, I followed the “keep it out of sight” rule. Leather jackets and aviator sunglasses didn’t stand a chance. I also remember the stereo theft boom. The manufacturers responded with special tools to remove OE radios and special codes that needed to be entered if the battery power was interrupted. When batteries failed and had to be replaced the code thing left many owners trying to find where they had recorded the codes and calls to the dealer to try to get their tunes playing again…..

More bullshit and it's pathetic that it is allowed.

Exactly. I not even tooting my horn about being an amazing poster but even when I'm shitting on people I still cover the topic of the thread.

I can assure you that I had a removable face stereo in the 90s. It was a Pioneer.

The SFPD could do bait car stings, but that'd probably upset the "racism" screamers.
