The Capital Police were subject to an unprecedented attack on J6th. Just a guess, but maybe they're looking for possible Seditious Conspirators. There is a suspicion that some members of congress were connected to the Attack on democracy, so getting a sense of who is talking with a Congressperson or Senator could be revealing.
You have to remember these are the type of people who blame Democrats when they stub their toe or someone leaves the milk on the counter.
