to mourn the senseless death of Charlie Kirk and grieve with not only his family, but grieve for the heart of our nation? Can we grieve what America has turned into where so many believe violence is the solution? I've seen so many posts and threads on here but none I have seen where every post was just grieving for Charlie, his family, and the nation as a whole. Can't we all just come together and grieve without attacking the other side? Can't we just come together in the moment for a man whose life was cut short for allowing himself to be put in danger time and time again, even during numerous death threats, in order to have debate and engage with those having different opinions than ourselves? Isn't communicating and listening to the other side the first step in solving our problems, the very same thing that he was trying to do even right up to the moment he was murdered? Can we just do that in this thread instead of saying but but but but but?

Charlie Kirk thought the Civil Rights Act was a bad thing.

How are you supposed to “come together” with that, exactly?

It's difficult for most (all?) of us to truly grieve for Kirk because none of us knew him personally. What's left is outrage, outrage that a man was gunned down for doing nothing other than expressing is political beliefs.

to mourn the senseless death of Charlie Kirk and grieve with not only his family,
Do you mourn all senseless deaths? I don't. I have no reason to mourn Kirk's death. I don't care about Kirk.

but grieve for the heart of our nation?
Yes, this is worth my time.

No.

I remember when MLK was shot. The 5th grade teacher, Mrs. Keefe, asked us if we had heard the news. Billy (Italian name) said, "Yeah. My mother said 'good.'"

Sadly, there are still people just like Billy's mom.

I'm more worried about the blatant racism in the country than I am about Charlie Kirk.

Some of us are done with the performative sanctimony, @Moderate Right.

MAGA immediately attacked the left, proclaimed that now Democrats are going to be horribly unpopular, yadda yadda, then it comes out the guy who did it is even crazier of a righty than MAGA annnnnd.... now we need to mourn how we got here.

Yeah I will mourn that. But not with MAGAs. It's not both-sides. Trying to make it both-sides is "look at what you made me do!" in another form.

It was more than just expressing his political beliefs. While he expressed his political beliefs, he also gave those on the other side a chance to express theirs. He didn't shoot any of them for their beliefs.

So, You don't even give a flying crap that a wife lost her husband and children lost their father?

Oh, when you started with criticizing that people "think violence is the solution" I thought you were going to at least mention the President, Elon Musk, Steve Bannon, and countless random people that were calling for a civil war and violence against "the left" because of the decisions of one person with a rifle.

You know, the only people that have been advocating violence against others for their opinions after Charlie Kirk was shot.

Why on earth would I grieve for him,? I feel badly for his family. I think it was a senseless, violent act. I hope the killer faces justice and I hope the nation cools down the rhetoric although I'm note hopeful...but grieve...sorry nope. I save grief for those I love.

Charlie Kirk didn’t give a shit about the families of the people affected by the policies he promoted.

Why should I be upset about him, given his stated beliefs?

OP wants a kinder, gentler America.

Oh wait...
So, you celebrate his murder and that's not disgusting? Oh yeah, you celebrate a criminal but you don't celebrate someone who was NOT a criminal.

I grieve for this OP.

LOL. There comes the but but but but but

Can We All Just Take A Moment to mourn the senseless death of Charlie Kirk and grieve with not only his family, but grieve for the heart of our nation?
All? Definitely not.
Can we grieve what America has turned into where so many believe violence is the solution?
Some of us can, but we are a tiny minority.

There are many Americans who are secretly jubilant about Charlie Kirk's assassination. Some openly dance on his grave - even some people on this forum. There is a lot of hatred and intolerance in America, and I'm sad to predict that the hatred, intolerance and violence will get a lot worse before it gets better.

But your heart is in the right place. Your OP gets a "like". (y)

So, You don't even give a flying crap that a wife lost her husband and children lost their father?
Do you give a crap about the other fathers who were gunned down?

If we were to grieve for everyone that falls to gun violence, we wouldn't have time for anything else.

And according to Kirk, this is the price we pay for freedom. Rather than grieve, perhaps he should be celebrated for giving his life for the cause.

Kirk's beliefs included forcing children to watch public executions. Kirk was vile. I don't mourn the deaths of vile people.

This thread is about the senseless death of Charlie Kirk. It has nothing to do with Trump.

What's not to celebrate? Kirk believed gun deaths are collateral damage. The price we pay for freedom. Kirk paid the ultimate price, for freedom, according to him.

Kirk was a freedom fighter. Deserves celebration.
