The progressive idiocy makes my head hurt. Let's put aside the fact that they mocked red states for wanting to secede and let's even put aside the challenges and the pro/cons of seceding.

Let's look at what the want from secession.

We're not trying a 1860s breakaway; we're talking about California being recognized as a nation within a nation, like Scotland in the United Kingdom. We feel California is more than just a state.

Meet the man who wants to make California a sovereign entity - LA Times

Hello, idiot, that's exactly what states in the US are already supposed to be. If progressives hadn't spent the past couple of generations eroding states rights then they wouldn't have to worry about a conservative in charge of the federal govt.

The Trump presidency is already clearly a win if it can show progressive just how wrong they have been to shove all that social justice **** down our throats.

Pure and inexcusable irresponsibility.

What is your beef with social justice? Don't we all want our society to be just? Did we force rights for blacks and gays down your throat and now you're sour about it?

Social justice now seems more focused on income redistribution and equality of outcome - the idea that a Walmart "greeter" deserves just as much pay as a ditch digger or painter.

The issue is that "social justice" has become a dog whistle for equality of outcomes instead of e1uality of opportunities. So to you question, no, I do not want a society that is overly concern with equality of outcomes.

lol remember how they looked down on Texas secession? They can go **** themselves, and honestly, good riddance.

I'd bet 10 dollars to a taco that if Texas did this they'd be racist, Neo-Confederate traitors in the eyes of the very people organizing and supporting this bull crap.

MY lord, it's like the Unthinking Left for some unknown reason felt the need to remind us that they are a bunch of ****ing hypocrites.

Like we needed reminding...

:slapme:

Does not really matter, there is no real Constitutional path for this to happen. It is almost an attention getting exercise over something we can expect to happen.

To further drive home the point about idiots running the asylum, all one need do is look at the Propositions that these idiots passed on Nov 8.

More debt, more freebies, legal pot, more gun control, higher taxes on the rich, a Progressive Orgy of insanity. Oh, and no condoms in Porn. Boy, thank god for that - it was an end of civilization question......:doh

These morons will be in for a rude awakening when the house of cards they've built falls apart, and they try to revive the bullet riddled body of California they gleefully unloaded banana clips into.

Whoopee. Let's tax the crap out of people, pour on more debt that can't be paid for, drive jobs and industry out of the state, but damn, those porn jobs are critical to the future of the state.

Do you know how ludicrous that is?

Elsewhere like new Hampshire? Not likely

Like I said in the OP it's about the goals they want with secession

What I am saying is we have no real plausible practical path for California to become an independent nation, or a nation within a nation (as we are discussing,) or whatever other foolishness someone comes up with.

meh id have been for the condom requirement

the rest sounded good to me

Except that is the whole idea of the United States to be nations within a nation united together. That's exactly why we call them "states"

I for one wish California good luck.

There is no problem with this after the State of Jefferson is formed. Northern California and Southern Oregon have more in common with Texas than they do with LA/San Francisco or Portland/Eugene.

The delusion is rampant up in this thread.

Apparently the echo chamber on this board drones out the chorus of support for Red State secession.

We are splitting hairs for no real reason, the issue at hand is what the person in the OP linked article wants. Which in a way is also splitting hairs.

Or perhaps the struggle for equal opportunity simply looks like the struggle for equal outcome to you. Do you honestly believe we've achieved equal opportunity in this country? Or anything even close?
