SP slashed security personnel
The linked LA Times article details SP’s drastic cuts to its security force personnel — six persons for the area from Los Angeles to Yuma — and the requests that Los Angeles law enforcement had made to SP to help secure the area. Also, BNSF has not experienced an increase of thefts similar to SP.
Maybe SP should examine how BNSF secures its yards, and the number of security personnel used. Maybe the slashes in SP’s security has a lot to do with the increase. Crazy idea, no?
You mean the progressive mantra of defunding and abolishing the police actually leads to more crime?!?!?!?SP slashed security personnel

You got to hand it to the democrat progressives, when it comes to the current distribution issues in the supply chain, they know how to get the goods .
Your voters obviously love you very much Mr. President .

So your solution is private security? Will they be armed? Have powers to arrest?
Is deadly force authorized to protect these private contractors who stand between criminals and millions of dollars of our supply chain?

Who would have that was possible?
Union Pacific Special Agents ARE private security, they are paid by Union Pacific...
Yeah? What are they allowed to do, yell "Stop stealing that" and "Hey, don't cut that lock off"?
No, they are certified law enforcement officers. They are just privately employed.Yeah? What are they allowed to do, yell "Stop stealing that" and "Hey, don't cut that lock off"?
Except that they don't have police powers. Only the police have police powers.LMAO... And when it's CORPORATE security with police powers we see how they cut funding in a heartbeat to maintain profit margins.. Who has primary jurisdiction on railways?
Except that they don't have police powers. Only the police have police powers.
In this case, since they are only being robbed in Los Angeles, the jurisdiction falls to Los Angeles. The railroads are a business, and the fact that they have to hire their own private sector speaks volumes to the failure of the progressives and their pro-crime agenda in Los Angeles.
Anyone can make arrests, that doesn't grant them police powers. The police is part of government and have special powers because of that. The railroad COPs are not part of government and therefore cannot have police powers. That is something only government has. You cannot be charged, for example, with resisting arrest if you resist against being arrested by a railroad COP. Railroad COPs also do not have qualified immunity. Which means they can be personally sued if they wrongfully arrest someone. No, they are certified law enforcement officers. They are just privately employed.
Union Pacific Special Agents & Police Dispatch
The Union Pacific Police Department Special Agents have have primary jurisdiction over crimes committed against the railroad. The department is responsible for all Union Pacific locations across 32,000 miles of track in 23 states. Its success has served as a model for national crime management...www.up.com

That do not work for government. You do comprehend that it is government that possesses the actual police powers, and not private businesses, right? They are certified law enforcement officers.
All arrests, whether done by civilian security or government employed police, are controlled by very specific laws. Once again, arrests have nothing to do with police powers. And citizens arrests are controlled by very specific laws and not allowed everywhere, and only for certain crimes/situations.
This unusual phenomena is just another manifestation of failed socialist policies. It won't end till the commie bastards are voted out.
Except they are given investigative powers, and are given jurisdiction. They have police powers. It was linked for you. That do not work for government. You do comprehend that it is government that possesses the actual police powers, and not private businesses, right?

They are also not the only law enforcement entities in the US that are privately paid, not paid by government.

The government grants investigative powers to certain private citizens, individuals. Never heard of a private investigator? They do not generally have the arresting powers of law enforcement though and no "jurisdiction".What are "investigative powers?" Only the government has powers and jurisdictions, not private businesses.
I'm very well aware of the private security industry. They also do not have police powers, and no amount of certification can grant police powers. Police powers can only come from government. Government has an exclusive monopoly on all police powers.
