You mean I can end any thread with just a gay joke?!?!
I have work to do
rich wife: our bills are less than we make in pay
rich husband: So what? We're stll going to make our employees pay our bills. They have more than they need.
rich wife: And don't forget, we can just ignore all the bills for things we bought in the past
rich husband: And we will just get the govt to send us more money and put it on the middle classes credit. Problem solved
Not very good play on words. So Pelosi believes the middle class have more than they need as your cute story goes? Pelosi is rich by the way.
So what makes you deserving of a rich persons money or anyones else? What did you do to earn it?
My bills are less than I make. It is known as saving for the future. I am in the middle class group as far as income. Guess you want me to give more also.
Giving or using a tax credit is not having the govt. send someone money. The tax revenue the govt. comes from the taxpayer.
So care to answer why the 50% who pay no FIT should not pay their "fair share" like the rest of us?
What did you do to earn it?
So what did the Illustrious PooBah say, anyway? I was busy.

I had to laugh this morning when I read this. The GOP and the plan that you support requires the most needy and the elderly to carry almost all of the burden. There is nothing in the GOP plan that requires the most wealthy to make ANY sacrifice.
From your response here....it would sound like you support what Obama wants to do....which is requiring EVERYONE to make sacrifices....which includes the wealthiest among us as well.
leftwing wife: our bills are more than we make in pay
leftwing husband: Don't worry we will get ther "rich" to pay our bills. They have more than they need.
leftwing wife: And don't forget, we can just ignore all the bills for things we bought in the past
leftwing husband: No, we will just get the banks to raise our debt limit on our cards and charge more. Problem solved.
what your lord and master says is that most people will sacrifice by BEING GIVEN LESS (of other peoples' money) while the rich will sacrifice by having to GIVE EVEN MORE MONEY

I always find it amusing that people who need the government to help them pretend to be economics experts. Its like the guys who cold call me offering some get rich investments. It their schemes work they wouldn't be needing to be making 300 cold calls a day. They would be living in The Turks and Cacos in some 2 Mil villa
rightwing wife: our bills are more than we can pay
rightwing husband: That's okay, Dick Cheney said "Deficits don't matter"
rightwing wife: Don't forget, we could always just default on the debt we've already committed to
rightwing husband: Economic prosperity, here we come!
So are you debt free? I am and have been for years. If your not debt free, here is a solution for you, earn more income. Or would it be easier to cut back on your spending? Me thinks cutting spending is more realistic.
I have said in other threads all parties are responsible for the debt and stalls in the talks. Neither side wants to give. I agree that the ceiling needs to be raised. Wish they would pass a bill like in the past to get it raised. Let me ask you. Obama says he will not accept any Bill that raises the ceiling without new tax revenue. Why? How sure are you that new revenue will towards paying down the debt.
I think anyone with savings and no debt is not maximizing their income. The problem isn't the fact that we have no debt. It's the size of the nations debt in relation to its' income.
I also think the best course right now is to not worry about paying down the debt, as we are a long way from that. IMO, it's far better to grow the economy, so the debt shrinks in proportion to the economy. With a growing economy, growing faster than the debt that is, paying down the debt will eventually take care of itself. That's what we did during the clinton admin, and we were ready to start paying down the debt until bush* and the republicans blew it all with their runaway spending and irresponsible tax cuts
Yeah, I know what you mean. I have the same reaction when I hear people who grew up in upper middle class neighborhoods and attended elite private schools and got jobs through family connections argue that we're all playing on an even field and anyone who isn't in the country club must be shiftless and lazy.
Leftwing Wife: Our bills are more than we make in pay and we owe people money. Let's pay the bills with our credit card. Then we'll work on cutting our expenses and we'll ask your brother who has been living with us, but who hasn't helped out with the light bill in 10 years, to start helping out with the light bill again.
Rightwing Husband: No. Let's not pay our bills, have our credit rating ruined, default on our mortgage, and then all three of us can be on the street.
Leftwing Wife: :doh
I have no idea how you got from there to here without doing the same for some of the other "dialogues". But you did ask a good question
For one thing, it's not about me. I have enough money of my own.
IMO, the wealth of this nation is more than the sum total of individuals efforts. Our history is full of instances where the american people worked together to build our prosperity. The poor, the middle, and even the wealthy, came together and made the sacrifices necessary to avoid disaster and build a future for their children.
IMO, we should adhere to this tradition of shared sacrifice.
And WRT to the question about FIT, I have already responded to that over and over again. If you want to focus on that to the exclusion of all else, go ahead. I will continue to talk about regressive nature of capital gains, payroll taxes, subsidies to corporations, and tax reductions for a wealth of things that are not available to the middle class.
How are capital gains and payroll taxes regressive? They are flat taxes which are not regressive because everyone pays the same amount. Sales taxes are regressive.
whining about that is pointless. there are many things that can give you an advantage in life
more attractive women marry richer men than ugly ones. better atheletes get scholarships to college
more intelligent kids get better grades
your lot in life is not my fault and I have no duty to make a sacrifice to make others feel better

Actually, you do have a duty, and our govt has the power to tax you in order to accomplish that. I know it really tics some people off, but too bad on them.
I'm quite happy with my lot in life, thanks very much. I was fortunate enough to have all the advantages I mentioned. But I am at least realist enough to admit that I had those advantages, and I don't feel the need to belittle those who weren't so lucky. In fact I think society has a role to play in helping out those who didn't win the genetic lottery.
Government taking money from an individual in order to make others feel better stops becoming the responsibility of the taxed and the assumed responsibility of the government. The individual, by the government usurping his rights, no longer has any say in where the money goes.
The government, in deciding who to 'help', can then decide, always with rationalization, where they can get the best political return with this money in order to gain reelection and maintain power. We should all know that by now.
Do you realize that the "clueless" are included in those you consider not being "so lucky?" Interesting how liberals ignore those people or the others who abuse the taxpayer and can work but choose not to? Why aren't those people removed from taxpayer assistance. Instead liberals have to make the number as big as possible so they can gain the maximum power and control. Wonder why people like you don't see what is happening to our country? Nothing wrong with spending in the name of compassion but not getting compassion results meaning solving a problem is the real problem.
Yes, I understand that any public assistance program is going to be vulnerable to some amount of abuse. Fortunately, President Clinton's welfare reform improved the situation to a degree. Apparently he didn't get the message that he was supposed to grow the permanent under class.
I think there is still much that can be done to cut down on abuse and to help people become independent, but the answer is not to simply let people who are down on their luck rot, as so many conservatives seem to desire.
