Blog Your Current Game

I've been playing since early alpha. Its a very good Diablo clone. Wolcen is also very good. POE is probably the best Diablo clone, and Warhammer 40k Inquisitor is easily the one I have played most.
Waiting for POE2 to come out. I periodically look for updates on that. Hopefully D4 fixes itself and is less basic with more depth of class and character play customization. I haven't tried Inquisitor, might have to give it a look.

I just started playing State of Decay 2 - Juggernaut Edition. It's an interesting survival horror game. It requires players to find a base, find supplies, (ammo, weapons, food, building materials, and cars) while preparing to take on infested houses/buildings called "plague hearts".

It's been fun so far, but it's difficult and a lot of work to accomplish anything major. If you want to waste hours of your life playing a game, this is a good place to start.

Inquisitor is an interesting game. Every fight in the game is mission based and last a few minutes each. There are item drops in the mission and a somewhat randomized loot chest at the end. "Somewhat" because they have a sort of mission crafting system that allows you to augment missions with improved drop chances.

Gear is also interesting in that there are no uniques, just a wide range of gear levels. I mean no uniques in that there are no special developer crafted, named gear, it's all random.

It probably has my favorite end game mechanics, which is why I managed to play for 500+ hours.

My spouse and I started it takes two yesterday. We were crying, laughing, and crying laughing in the first 20 minutes. We only played up to beating the first boss so far, but I'd already give it a 5/5.

Terra Invicta is out in early access. The story: an alien ship has crash landed on Earth. 7 factions compete to control the reaction and steer Earth's future. You can fight the aliens on Earth, or anywhere in the solar system, or not fight them at all. What makes the game pretty cool is the factions:

The Resistance: fight the aliens
Humanity First: fight the aliens with extreme prejudice, plus anyone who might help the aliens, or who are not fighting the aliens, or who look like they might be alien or like aliens. Think an anti-alien ISIS.
The Academy: science based faction that wants to prove we are the aliens equals, with humans partnering up with the aliens.
Project Exodus: the aliens do not come in peace, we cannot beat them, so let's build giant spaceships and flee to another planet somewhere.
The Protectorate: let's negotiate a surrender with the aliens for the best terms possible
The Servants: worship the aliens and want to serve them body and soul.
The Initiative: aliens means the potential for profit! Want to exploit the chaos caused by the aliens to make big money. Very libertarian kinda thing.

So as you can see, depending on which faction you play, your goals and strategy will be very very different. Basic gameplay will be similar of course: take control of the governments of various countries, research and start exploring the solar system, build bases to exploit resources throughout the solar system, stop the other factions from attaining their goals.

Game has a ton of potential, and does some things really, really well. The tutorial sucks, and the game really does overwhelm you with options and information, but so far it is enjoyable.

The game I'm playing to0day is "Fix my Laptop".

My primary computer is a desktop, but I have a small 14" Lenovo Yoga that I use when I'm not in my office. It's a 2-in-1 and I really have liked it, it's not a powerhouse, it's just for internet browsing and writing.

I ended up using the 2-in-1 feature a lot, and that is where the problems began.

The issue would show up in the laptop configuration where it would flutter between laptop mode and tablet mode about an hour after start up. Once it started happening I could fix the issue for a while by moving the screen between laptop and tablet mode to reset it, but it only worked so long before it would stop working and need a reboot.

I finally decided to use some time today diagnosing and fixing the issue. My initial assumption was that it was a Windows driver issue since it started happening after the Spring content update, but there was nothing on the web pointing to this issue.

If it was a driver issue I was stuck with the problem until Lenovo released a driver... it was at this point that the "fix" seemed like it would be a new laptop.

I then stumbled on a support entry on the Lenovo site that was a complaint that the screws on the bottom of this model on the side with the hinges come loose. I checked the laptop and sure enough they were all lose, making the hinges loose. I tightened all the screws and the issue appeared to be resolved.

But I now had the tinkering bug and decided that I wanted to try some current Linux distros on it.. which is drifting from "Fix my Laptop" into "I'll fix my laptop but good!" territory.

My biggest issue was with the flaky Lenovo EFi menu and it's flaky USB port. It would recognize my boot media about a third of the time.

But I was eventually able to install and play around with the latest Pop!_OS, Ubuntu and Mint

All of them had their own set of quirks. Pop!_OS was snappy but I hated the desktop layout and the window management ... who decided that the one thing Pop!_OS didn't need was a Maximize Window button? Maybe I didn't give it long enough, but the only way I found to maximize a window was to dock it to the top of the screen, which wouldn't be so bad with a mouse (still annoying), but was a real pain with a touch pad.

So on to Ubuntu which had all the bells and whistles, a somewhat less painful interface, but didn't seem to like my hardware very much..

So finally I settled on Mint, which I guess should be no surprise since it's practically Windows already. There were only 2 things I didn't like in Mint. The first was that there was no readily available screen brightness interface, and the second was that the touchpad wasn't recognizing taps as clicks. The latter was resolved easy enough (it was disabled by default for some reason), but their doesn't appear to be a fix for the former. I can live with that.

TL;DR - Mint is a nice Linux Distro if you like Windows 10.

Just took a 20ish minute peak at the changed in NMS, and holy hell! Inventory completely revamped, more slots, more tech slots. Cargo slots in your exosuit are now part of the main inventory. Tech modules have to go in tech slots. Not sure of the number for exosuits, but the word is 30 tech slots for ships max, 120 inventory slots.

You can remove and re-install tech modules. When you remove one, it becomes a storage version of the module and goes into inventory.

Tracking of milestones is much easier, with you being able to see what you need for the next milestone.

Graphical improvements.

No longer need a signal booster to use drop pod data.

An exosuit upgrade that lets you call a trade rocket that you can launch with stuff you want to sell to the vender, it launches after you fill it and automatically venders it.

More missions supposedly.

Worth a look.

I'll definitely try it again. I first played it this year, so I've already avoided many of the original complaints. My biggest has been inventory management.

Couple tips:

1: From the options menu ingame, you can rename save files and at the same time adjust a variety of difficulty settings(difficulty settings can be set when you start a new game as well I believe).

2: Supply rockets can tip over when they land, and frequently do. Don't worry, it can still take back off when you load it up with stuff to sell. Great for planets with scrap/skeletons to collect and sell.

3: When buying suit/ship/multitool slots, click on where you want the slot, then click on purchase. That is how you get to pick tech or cargo for example.

Took my first runs at the Demon of Hatred last night.

SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE

The Demon of Hatred fell last night to Wolf’s blade Kusabimaru. The Sculptor also known as the Shinobi Orangutan now knows peace for the first time in many many years. Releasing Orangutan from his torment showed Wolf what would have happened if he had sided with the Great Shinobi Owl in the castles dojo. The result of walking the path of the Shura demon that lusted for violence.
.
.
.
.
Took seven evenings to prevail, but being a Shinobi that could not die – the result was inevitable.

The first couple of evenings were tense, the controller held in a white knuckle grip. Attempts where you just run away to survive a few seconds longer. Attempts focused on being aggressive resulting in your getting your ass beat.

The next few nights became a time of research, learning to relax and to dance. Runs at the Demon with no intent to prevail but to learn the Demons dance. The clues, ques and tell-tale signs as to the Demon’s patterns. As these were learned, Wolf began to understand and develop his own responses – Wolf learned the dance.

In researching many younger and faster YouTubers seem to all suggest a hyper aggressive strategy (or strat) which involved staying under the Demon attacking and then relying on reflexes to deflect melee attacks and foot stomps. For this incarnation of the Wolf that just didn’t work. Instead this Wolf learned the dance and used the Shinobi Dash and Slash method. Learn the tell’s, learn the triggers, and control the follow of the fight by kiting the Demon into an area of Wolf’s choosing. Wait and watch for a desired action – then dash in, gets some slashes in to punish the Demon when exposed and then dance back out of range. Instead of beating the Demon through brute force, end his existence through the death of a thousand cuts.

Ideally for this Wolf had to get through the first phase with minimal use of healing items as undoubtedly they would be needed later. Eventually Phase I became fairly easy using the Dash & Slash strat. Moving into Phase II became more of a challenge as the Demon began employing long range river of fire and the release of homing fireballs attacks. The river of fire was countered using the Suzaku’s Lotus upgrade to the loaded umbrella which prevented fire damage. The fireballs were evaded by strafing to the right and corkscrewing in toward the Demon so that when he was finished casting he could be punished while recovering.

The final Phase III portion seemed to add two more conditions to the conflict, the Demon appeared to become even more aggressive and now he used his flame arm on occasion to create a circular flame barrier trapping the Wolf in a much smaller area with little room to maneuver. A true detriment to the Dash & Slash method Wolf was attempting to use. Because it was Phase III of the fight, well let’s just say Wolf didn’t get a lot of practice time here. To counter this Wolf learned to dash away when the Demon started to spin, placing himself outside the barrier and free to move in a wider are during the half a minute while the barrier burned itself out.

With the use of a powerful healing buff kept in reserve and the timely use of a resurrection the Demon was felled.

Tonight I’ll take a night off before beginning the final boss Isshin, The Sword Saint. There are a couple of final skills to learn for which I’ll need experience points. So I’ll be traveling the map from start to finish killing everything in my path. Hmmmmm – maybe the Shura lust isn’t quite dead in the Wolf after all.

Hearts of iron 4 i played as Denmark, focused mainly on aircraft research because i knew the Germans would take over all of my factories which were…….. rather inconveniently placed all around Jutland instead of iceland and greenland where Germany couldnt reach me….. i managed to keep the UK clear of enemy bombers enough for the allies to get a foothold in Germany. The UK and western allies managed to overthrow the third reich before the soviets could reach Berlin and my
Aces and skilled pilots managed to do a lot of damage.

Tried a coup but since my factories were all captured….

Now with the third reich pretty much defeated and Italy going republican again, im going to try to free Spain from Franco’s rule.

Weird part is UK just out of the blue declared war on iceland.

A twister from another world!

Not with this particular game. There are a few great games for PC that would work for your purposes. I recommend Left 4 Dead 2.

I hope this helps.
