I don't see a single post here showing data on blacks proving they are makng strides in education, wealth, health and employment. The reason is they are not. Blacks continue to live in squalor, have multipl births with no set of parents. Black kids continue to quit school at an alarming rate. Black test scores continue to be a disgrace. Black men impregnate women with no plan to help the children and some of these "men" are famous to all of us. Black on black crime contiues on with no hope of it declining. Young black men have little hope of ever having anything worthwhile and do not think in terms of growing old. To them dying of old age means twenty-two. Drug use is prominant in their neighborhoods and no one seems to care enough to even try to stop it. When a case does exist it is news and we see it on the news. Blacks were screwed, are screwed and will be screwed for a very long time and the biggest reason is they don't give a damn enough to try for real progress. So,

but I doubt if any that call me that are not black because all I have done is tell their rela situation.

Oh, so that means that 70% of black children aren't born to unwed mothers? Or that blacks aren't failing miserably as a group in the education department? Or that there isn't outrageously high black male unemployment? Or that blacks aren't more likely to be killed by another black than any other race? Or that black women don't account for 30% of all abortions while making up only 15% of the population?

And every conservative knows the Dem platform of 'vote for us and we'll give you more free gubmn't sh*t" ' is very popular to a large group of people . The premise of the original post is that this is extremely detrimental to the very people to whom that message is addressed . I think the ( real) 20+ unemployment rate among blacks is convincing proof of that. And in this very trial- the fact that Rachel Jenteal may graduate high school without being able to speak a sentence of English is also proof.

In the midst of all the racial hullabaloo stirred up by so-called advocates for black empowerment after the Zimmerman trail, guess who is really being harmed? Answer: black America.

All of you black pastors, black politicians, and black celebs who have joined Sharpton and the MSM's lynch mob to "get Zimmerman" should be ashamed of yourselves. You are doing a huge disservice to the very people you claim to champion by chasing a straw man while ignoring the real issues that are devastating black America.

Over 70 and increasing percent of black kids grow up in fatherless homes(Children in single-parent families by race | KIDS COUNT Data Center). Researchers warn that we blacks are aborting ourselves(www.learninc.org - ALARMING TREND: DECLINING NUMBER OF BLACK BIRTHS) into extinction. Black school dropout rates are at epidemic levels. Fatherless households and school dropouts fuel through the roof high black unemployment, gangs, and incarcerations.

I don't exactly see the problem with the black community as political but rather social and spiritual. What I don't like about the article is it focuses more on perpetuating the blame game. There's enough blame to go around in my humble opinion. Let's start coming up with solutions. Here are some of mine:

1. In the absence of fathers in the home, black kids need positive mentors and role models with whom they can identify. Up until 2008, most of the more influential role models to black youths were either professional athletes or hip hop recording artists. Maybe as a culture, we can ALL start to affirming the positive influence key role models are being to young people who look up to them in areas we should all be able to say are good things for young people to want to pursue. For example: if a political leader who is deeply admired by young black kids happens to also be one of the most devoted fathers and husbands in America, instead of criticizing him for bringing his kids along on international state visits and taking his wife out to dinner, we can start celebrating it and joining in a chorus to kids without fathers that encourages them to seek to follow his example in family life and pursuit of their education even if we all cannot agree on tax policy, healthcare reform or Cap and Trade.

2. Offer incentives to welfare recipients who get married, have never been convicted of a felony, obtain their high school diploma or earn a college degree. Offer incentives to welfare recipients who's kids make good grades and avoid illicit behavior. This can be privately funded and take all kinds of forms from cash as Christmas time to family vacations to free educational aids at home like free computers to private school and college scholarships.

4. Offer two types of marriage license; one is the basic one we have now and the other a covenant marriage license that requires per-marital counseling preemptively covering a wide range of issues seen to cause conflict leading to divorce and a much stricter standard for divorce if it is ever considered including divorce intervention counseling before it may be finalized.
