OK...truth be told I just wanted to type the headline.

Anyway, It seems that Mexican mega baker Grupo Bimbo may be in the market for Hostess if the liquidation goes ahead. That isn't a given as, right now, it seems that Hostess has agreed to mediation (imagine that, a Federal judge who doesn't like the idea of liquidation:roll:)

Bimbo & Twinkies: Mexican Mega Bakery May Save Brands From Hostess Liquidation

Hopefully this will not affect europe :D

Wow, you have 790 posts, Lutherf!

Oh. The picture is too small to see she´s a little girl. So I have turned into a little girl.

Ahh...well.....I've heard that's become fashionable across Europe:mrgreen:

Any chance that the find reputation of German confectioners will be sullied by making these marginally edible treats?

It was pretty obvious this was going to happen. Look at the public outcry and the value of the brand.

This was an easy marketing decision.

Wait, Bimbos and Ho's? Thank you Union!

I don´t think so. The younger the girls the more spittle runs out of a bunch of mouthes here. Plus an innocent dress it is like viagra for those tolerance-dependent guys, who more and more get the status of being "sexually normal". You must know that almost 50 % of the girls in Germany get sexually hassled by adults in chatrooms.

Guess that douchebag that was trying to sell a box of Twinkies on eBay for $10,000 feels really stupid right about now.

He's not a douche. It was worth a try. Besides I've heard of people paying more for less. Somebody might have payed 10,000 for those twinkies. Now we will never know. It's sad really. I so looked forward to selling my twinkie supply at a large confiscatory profit.:( Now I have a room full of twinkies. What ever will I do with them? I am getting hungry, a twinkie calls my name.

Being bought by a Mexican company would be the same as going out of business so far as I'm concerned. No more Twinkies or anything else from that line for me, if it happens.

Well, I still think it's a douchey thing to do. Then again, I hate it when people get greedy like that - twinkies or not.

That's just silly. Are you prepared to stop eating Ritz crackers? Planters peanuts? Kraft caramels? Oscar Meyer hotdogs? Much of Kraft foods are made in Mexico.

Why would you not eat anything made in Mexico? Are you prepared to not eat any food at all made outside this country? Or is it just Mexico you have a problem with?

You have what, 70 years before they expire? I'm sure you could ration them out and eat them all. I thought it was hilarious and sad that the entire hostess shelf was cleared out at the store the last time I went shopping. Little Debbie and other brands make the same thing, so it's not like Hostess had a monopoly in the market.

I wonder if other companies will find this ploy a good marketing tactic. It doesn't seem to work for a car company when they announce a model will be discontinued. But I could see hilarity ensue if Apple suddenly said they would stop making the iPad or iPhone.

oooooh, chocolate filled twinkies - fried!

Doesn't Bimbo produce stuff locally? They may be a Mexican owned firm but really how are they different than any globalized "American" firm, like, say, Apple?

If GM had been allowed to fail, I'm pretty sure Toyota would have picked up the facilities and production. So, would the cars be Japanese?

I try to avoid those foreign products I can. I already don't buy Kraft products for other reasons.

Yes they would be.

By your standards, I'm not sure there are any American products left. Even our weapons such as missiles contain Israeli made guidance systems and have shareholders from all over the world.

Yes they would be.

I actually like some of hostess's regional specialty lines one of those being the Rasberry powdered donuts. The rasberry filling in em is dynomight. You cant hardly find em where I am at. Those are some delicous donuts. Hostess products tend to be moister, which is how I prefer my cake style products like cupcakes donuts ect. They seemed to me to be a better product.
