It says alot. I've been discussing politics with my family here in Louisiana lately. They have always been pretty conservative and unabashed republicans, but I've never felt the need to really argue with them from a more moderate, centrist or eve left wing view point depending on the topic and my views of it.

It confirms for me that the disease of progressivism has not only inflicted democrats but republicans as well.
Rank and file republicans voted for Trump in the primary and are still there at his campaign rallies. His popularity was due to his appealing to some pretty base instincts amongst the angry blue collar white guy demographic. I don’t think he could have appealed to rank and file democrats in the same way unless he used a completely different shtick.
