Biden Administration to require all businesses of over 100 employees to be vaccinated or tested weekly

The Governors have little say over federal employees, federal contractors, and the military.
Requiring them is a start.
Agreed on Fed employees.

He’s getting ahead of his skis
I think his decisive action is exactly what is required. He did everything in his power to control this horrible disease through voluntary vaccination but politics and the RW media machine got in the way more to undermine him than anything else. It didn't need to be this way.

Yeah. I think they are coming to realize that. The pressure increases

Look at this way. I run a medical clinic and I'll know I will lose staff thereby impacting my overall operations. I can lose them and potentially my business or drop Medicare which is royal pain to deal with anyway.
Depending on the percentage of your business that is Medicare related, you may not need all the staff that you will be able to keep, not to mention the hit to your sales volume.

You of all people should know better then. Allowing any employee to come to work possibly carrying the virus puts all your customers and fellow employees at risk.

Most facilities are understaffed for their current volume (even before Covid). Medicare is low margin, privately insured patients are the money maker.

Wouldn't be surprised if a few places dropped Medicare.
You should be. Medicare is immensely important and widely used. While some practices run by borderline quacks and anti-vax doctors will drop it (and thus garner huge media attention on Fake Fox News, no hospitals and few other facilities can afford to drop it.

Also, there are states with nursing shortages already. A lot of whom have already had Covid and do not wish to receive shot. Does he plan on firing all of yesterday's heroes?
I doubt many will quit. Plus, if they refuse to get vaccinated, then they are a direct danger to their patients, co-workers, families and friends.

Doing something difficult and beneficial in the past is no excuse for harming people in the present.

Mandates are overdue. It's time to get this virus under control.

The above was an example.

The medical field has taken precautions before this virus and will continue to do so after it. Aside from Covid, anyone could be carrying a multitude of other things.

True, but the volume you get from Medicare helps lower your operating overhead.

Sure Hospitals will keep it. But there are a ton of places providing medical services across this country that aren't a hospital. Nurses won't quit for sure, they will force them to fire them. Again, medical facilities probably take the most comprehensive PPE precautions. Are there some stats showing nurses and doctors routinely spreading Covid to patients? If a nurse has HIV, are they a direct danger to their patient?

You do realize that as soon as we can stamp out Covid in the US, the sooner everyone can get back to normal.. All this fighting about masks and vaccines is no way normal. Keep fighting it, and it stays here.

This government is doing everything in their power to get it under control. All the political whack jobs who refuse to comply (My FreeDumbs) are the ones holding the rest of us hostage.

I have been waiting for the government to take some serious measures. Good for Biden and his team.

In addition, all medical businesses who accept Medicare will be required to be vaccinated. That's nearly every hospital, doctors office and doc in the box across the country. Estimations are this will cause 17 million more people to be vaccinated.

It's clear to me that Biden's # 1 agenda is to stamp out Covid, as he promised during his campaign. It's time to stop coddling the vax deniers. get it or lose your job.

And every nursing home…

Actually, quite the opposite. If I'm spending the same time on a lower margin Medicare patient, then my overhead is more expensive. Which is why a lot of places will cap the number of Medicare patients they will accept.

Only if they are having sex with their patient. Covid is airborne. You should know better than that also.

Who in the Biden retard administration comes up with all of these silly ideas? Because I don't see Bozo the clown off in the wings, who is the clown running that side show?

I don't care one bit who came up with these orders. I am just glad they did. Don't get vaccinated and eventually you'll be relegated to stay in your house. You won't be welcome anywhere, except maybe an unvaccinated trump community.

And may I ask what you ideas are for stamping out Covid? We constantly here all the complaints, but no new policies or ideas. If you can't contribute to the solution you're part of the problem, speaking generally.

A medical clinic no sane person should ever set foot in.

Unfortunately, there is no stamping out Covid. If we could stamp that out, then we would have already stamped out the entire coronavirus family. Where I am, everything has been getting back to normal.

Or blood. Which is why covering up any open wounds/cuts is a big deal. Protects you and the patient.

Northern Lights in Maine, which runs 10 hospitals, has 12,000 employees. 24 have said they will quit. You see, in Maine, the governor already set this requirement under an emergency mandate. All healthcare providers have to have all their employees fully vaccinated by October 1. If a nurse or CNA or respiratory therapist wishes to quit, they'll need to switch careers or move out of state. I imagine most of the 24 quitting are working in the kitchen or the parking lot.

A suit has been filed, of course. We'll see.

Why the 100-employee threshold? Either a mandate has sound reasoning and you do it (essentially) for all, or you don't.
My first reaction, as well! Didn't I hear small businesses constitute half our economy? This OSHA requirement is going to miss a lot of people!

I'd say the shortage of workers employers already currently face - just might increase quite quickly!

I don't think governors can overrule federal labor laws. None the less I suspect businesses will generally be accepting of this. It takes the decision and employee blowback off the table.

I know that. The Constitution is very clear: federal laws trump state laws. That includes executive orders.

Listening to him now.....definitely no more Mr Nice Guy! He is being hard a$$
