To me,as far as accomplishments, probably Kirk Douglas. Was nominated on a number of occasions, but never won. Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton would probably have to be under consideration.

Paul Newman was also underrated.

A Couple of Old time actors were James Dean and Cary Grant.

Newer ones.....Tom Cruise, Leonardo Di Caprio.

All pretty good actors in my opinion.

He won one in 1986 at least. Had been nominated on a number of occasions(Cool Hand Luke,The Hustler,Cat On A Hot Tin Roof)plus a few more that are slipping my mind. Kind of like how John Wayne won one for True Grit towards the end,or Henry Fonda with On Golden Pond.

I forgot that Cruise hasn't won an Oscar. I'll agree to disagree on Di Caprio!

You mean the lifetime achievement/Miss Congeniality thing?

Did you mean disagree that he is a good actor or that he won an Oscar? I don't recall him winning one. I thought he was only nominated in Titanic.

No. I'm just not a fan. Do enjoy Cruise's acting, even though he,like Mel Gibson is loco.

Liam Neeson
Brad Pitt
Johnny Depp

all very good actors who have not yet won an Oscar.

I liked a couple of films with Cruise in them.....although I wouldn't say Cruise was in my tops for actors. Same with Di Caprio. Most consider them good actors for this generation.

Another Oldie that didn't win one was Fred Astaire.

Humphrey Bogart never won until (finally) African Queen.

Wow, surprised that Newman never won, I would choose him. I loved the Color of Money and Nobody's Fool, maybe my two favorite movies.

Claude Rains in Casablanca, Jame Mason in Desert Fox and Five Fingers.

yes.....i love those pictures, they are in my top 10 of my favorites, i watch 5 fingers a lot!;)

Rains is a master of facial expressions in Casablanca.

Kevin Bacon.

Liam Neeson should definately have won an Oscar for Schindler's List. And one of the biggest injustices for not receiving the Oscar was Russell Crowe for his portrayal of Nash in A Beautiful Mind.
