A group funded by Ben & Jerry’s founder Ben Cohen is running a media campaign against U.S. military support for Ukraine. The organization—Eisenhower Media Network (EMN)—has been reaching out to reporters to push claims that the U.S. is spending too much money trying to help Ukraine fight off Vladimir Putin’s invasion. EMN is a project run by the People’s Power Initiative, a group that counts Cohen as its president and a major backer. The ice-cream mogul and long-time Bernie Sanders campaigner has given more than $1 million to the People’s Power Initiative via the Ben Cohen Charitable Trust, according to public records. The EMN project promotes a group of U.S. military veterans as experts and pundits willing to talk about the war in Ukraine. Some of them have been echoing Kremlin propaganda lines by claiming that U.S. military support for Ukraine is extending and intensifying the fighting, and suggesting that NATO expansion was one of the causes of the war. “We gave Putin just cause,” the director of EMN, Dennis Fritz, told The Daily Beast in an interview. An EMN spokeswoman confirmed that Ben Cohen is president of the board of directors of People Power Initiatives (PPI) and its “top donor.”

“The U.S. could use its power to advocate for a negotiated settlement, but instead it’s using its power to prolong the war — prolong and prolong and increase the death and destruction.” - Ben Cohen
Cohen disingenuously neglects to mention that the war would stop tomorrow if Russia withdrew all of its military from Ukraine.

Just to be clear, the major donor of EMN is Ben Cohen, one of the founders of Ben & Jerry's Homemade Holdings Inc.

Ben & Jerry's is now owned by Unilever, the British multinational conglomerate which issued this statement.....

“In this instance, Ben is acting in his personal capacity as a private citizen, not as a representative of Ben & Jerry’s,” said Sean Greenwood, a spokesperson for Ben & Jerry’s. “Ben & Jerry’s stands firmly against military action of any kind to alter national borders, which is why we remain opposed to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”

That surprised me when I heard about it. Can't say I agree.

They sell more ice cream in Russia than they do in Ukraine.
I hear the Vodka Cookie Crumble is a popular flavor.

Lol, of course the west arming Ukraine to defend itself is "extending the war", that's the entire point. Without it, Ukraine would've been defeated in days and would now be a state in Russia. This is exactly what people who make these arguments want.

And as much as I disagree with Ben's take on the war, I agree with the current company of Ben and Jerry's stance. Ben has a right to his views and the company should not be reflected upon that.

Guess I'll be sticking to Haagen Das for the foreseeable future...

The arguments offered by these people make such little sense I am convinced their positions are motivated mostly by animus towards the U.S. and the West.

You might take note of the fact that HD's "pints" are no longer full pints - and haven't been for a long time.

At least Ben & Jerry's pints are still 16oz.s HD's are 2 ounces short, but they are no cheaper where I buy them.

.I am strictly a price ice cream purchaser. But I won't buy a bigger container of ice cream even if it's cheaper. I have my standards (thank god because I;
oops, replied too early. ...would eat the big container in the same time as the little containers). Living in the bay, our pint size selection is more than just HD and B&J...thank goodness.

I prefer HD but I usually don’t buy it unless it’s on sale. I shop at Publix for the most part for my “middle of the store” stuff, because their BOGOs are amazing.

Last week, HD was on sale BOGO, so we bought HD. This week Talenti gelato was on sale BOGO, so that’s what we got.

Imo, Talenti is a poor gelato but a delicious ice cream.

Ben & Jerry's is not even that great.

Good thing i don't plan on buying anything with those progressive pinheads' names on it anytime soon.
