Be a sheep, ignore Palin!

If he were really using the voice, he would have said "Know nothing you do". Though it still does not distract from the fact that this must have been the most well placed Star Wars quote in a political debate ever.

EVER !!!!! Agreed :)

Sarah Palin is political-porn for Conservatives, but she's in love with her own celebrity. The media is in love with her because the Left thinks she's a hilarious joke and the Right has a crush on her. What I find funny is that she acts like a victim of media bias, even when all the Liberal News outlets beg her to come on their show. Sarah Palin IS the media. Yet all she ever says of substance is how we need to have a President like Reagan again.

BTW, Ronald Reagan, according to his son Ron, would be considered a "Liberal" by today standards, by "raising taxes, amnesty for illegal immigrants and, well, one of the most liberal abortion laws in California when he was governor." So if Reagan did so many Liberal things, why does Palin shout his name from the rooftops? Is she completely unaware of the irony?

Yes, Palin you are the 'victim.' The victim of your own making and America loves watching the train-wreck you call a life. Best wishes...

Ok at least you gave one thing that might be specific. You consider Reagan to be a liberal, Palin likes him so therefore that makes her stupid.

I don't think Palin is stupid. Also, I don't think Reagan was a Liberal, but the Tea-Party would be against some of his policies.

Based on her actions, I've concluded that Palin would rather be a celebrity than hold public office, so it baffles me that she gets so much media attention. It's a big distraction from our actual Government, our Congress and President. I don't want to bad-mouth Palin too much, but every time she posts a "tweet" Fox News and CNN report on it. Is that honestly necessary?

To be honest, I liked Reagan and I respect other Republicans. Even if I might disagree with them. But Palin doesn't seem to know much about history or current events. The only reason the American public knows about her is because McCain's campaign thought she would boost his numbers, which she did momentarily. But now that she has a reality-Tv show and writes multiple books each year, do we really need to follow her every word? I think if I want Palin's opinion, there are a dozen different sources that constantly stream her every thought.

But honestly, I'd rather listen to a real debate between a knowledgeable Conservative and Liberal, really asking the hard questions on policy.

At least when people hated Bush, some of them would be specific as to why. (The war in Iraq; waterboarding, Gitmo)
Here, you talk about Palin having idiotic views etc. but you fail to point to anything specific about her that causes you to disagree with her.

I am betting money he can give you a fair number of reasons. I had a similar challenge issued to me a couple days ago, here was my reply:

Apparently you missed the post of yours I was responding to. I was correcting you. But if you want specifics, let's look at the Palin on the issues page: Sarah Palin on the Issues

I disagree with her stance on abortion, with her stance on the economy, her stance on SSM and gay issues, her belief that creationism should be taught in schools, her environmental record, and more.

To be complete, I agree with her on gun issues(at least as mentioned in my source), agree with her on hate crime laws, agree with her on drug issues. Of course none of those are important issues to me.

I dislike her rhetoric with things such as "death panels" and "blood libel". and I consider her a hypocrite in the way she complains about the media while continually courting the media.

These lists are not meant to be all inclusive. I have been over a half hour on this post so far(with interruptions in real life as well). However, I do think that this proves that it is not mindlessness or any of the other usual arguments some give for us on the left not liking Palin, but for actual, concrete legitimate reasons. You may disagree with the issues I oppose her on, but not that I have honest and thought out reasons for disliking her.

Should we do the betting part first or go strait into the specifics?

I basically see her as a shell of a person who would be a poor empty soul without the celebrity that gives her an identity. I believe there is no internal substance to her, basically, like any partisan hack. Gardener posted a book about the mentality of true believer types who need a movement to make them a person a few weeks back. I think Palin would be an example of this type of person. To be fair, I cannot point to any specifics as to why I believe this other than observation of her behavior and the fact that her beliefs and actions are those of a stereotype, not a thinking, feeling person.

However, this has nothing to do with the specifics that I think barb asked for, so the bet is still on if you guys want to play around first :)

:wassat1: No it doesnt. You could hate someone or something without fear.

Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

No it doesn't, fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate...leads to suffering.

Don't you know anything?

duh.

hate comes from anger which comes from fear. ergo hate originates with fear. I sense much fear in this one

looks like "somebody" is BUSTED!!!!!!!! :failpail:
If the goal was to ignore her, why start a thread about her?

I read Borger's piece this week about how everyone is getting tired of Palin and thought it was funny, since CNN is probably most responsible for something new about Palin being in the public discourse every day.

People should be against some of his policies. I think Reagan was a really good president, but he did some not so great things. Iran-Contra was basically treason. He broke the back of labor, we had our hands into everything during his administration and not all of it was good. It's not all sunshine and lollipops with Reagan.

What was wrong with breaking the back of labor?

I was reading this thread, and was going to make that exact statement. Damn you Spud, damn you :2razz:

It's not my fault that my brain has learned to automatically skip over Palin threads

See, you see Palin threads as hack fests, I see them as chances to make bad jokes, you just need to learn to think positive.

(incidentally, I just learnt Palin is an anagram of plain.)

Sounds very "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome-ish" but true none the less.

You lose any nerd cred you had...

It's Star Wars, Yoda.

You know the scene I'm talking about in Thunderdome right - the fight scene, "fighting leads to war, and war leads to dying and that was almost the death of us all..." I admit it... I'm a lame nerd, but I'm tryin'.

HeHe incidentally I learned Spud Meister is an anagram for dumpsters ie

I have never understood their hatred for the woman. typically that level of hatred is motivated by fear. so the question becomes...what are they afraid of?

I am afraid of people actually being stupid enough to elect her, because she'd destroy the republican party...

like Obama is destroying the democratic party? :lamo

I don't understand why that's a fail.

Vichio copy/pastes stories and talking points from right-wing sites all day.

Just because another poster saw an idea they like then purposed it here, you're being a bit harsh.
