Australia Bans Guns, Crime Rate Increases | Gun Control Fail

Yeah, pretty much.

The biggest problem, at least in Melbourne, is drunken fights, big drinking culture here. You won't get shot, but some drunken dickhead may smash a bottle across your face.
I've seen people get plenty messed up after a stabbing, bottle incident in a bar, those aren't all that much nicer than getting shot. Worse usually.

The population of Scotland is 5.2 million, the population of Iceland is 319,000. That's a difference of 16 times. Even if you multiply the number of homicides in Iceland (1) by 16, 78-16 is 62. 62 homicides in a population of 5.2 million is not statistically significant.

Number of murders in Scotland (2009): 78 (that's a total of 78 homocides in case you think you're reading it wrong) -- They banned handguns in 1996 after a guy walked into a school and shot 16 kindergartners. It took one year to get the legislation passed.

Number of murders in Iceland in 2009: 1 (yes, one). Thirty percent of Icelander civilians own firearms. Anecdotal synopsis of gun laws:

Just thought those stats were interesting.

Say whatever you want, Australia is still way safer than America by a long shot.

If you're in a gang or are a criminal, in America, sure.
As far as everyone else, it's about the same.

Criminal gun violence, where criminals kill criminals, is around 50% or more of the deaths on record, in most places.

So in total, the accuracy of that statement you made, is false.
