Athletes Support Transgender Athletes

But even then I didn't know how far I wanted to go. Still don't really.

This one is easy, at least in theory. You go as far as you need to to end the GD, and any other related issues, as much as you can. You might not know now whether it means surgery in the future or not, but surgery is the response, not the evaluation. Take all the time you need and stop when you feel ready, not when someone else tells you. Not always easy in practice though.

Found this just now, and it was too on topic not to share. Naysayers in 3....2.....1.....

Ironically, they have a psychological advantage, at least currently. I read a study not too long ago, where they did a mixed chess tournament, and divided into two styles. Face to face, and via a computer screen. They found that women performed much better against other women face to face than against men, but when the woman didn't know whether her opponent was a man or woman, she typically did equally well against both.

Doesn't surprise me, most of the "advantages" are psychological, not physical in any sport really.

I do think that most of the objection is against competitive sports, such as for pay or scholarship, or similar. While most probably don't have issue with transgenders playing for the sake of playing where the teams are mixed, too many opponents can't get their mind out of the paradigm of all sports being competitive in the way I described.

I don't disagree and I think that's a serious problem with sports in general. We're so focused on the idea that sports are competitive do or die events we forget sports are really just about having fun.

That is a good attitude to have. Thank you!

Not an athlete by any means, but I am a former soldier and a gym rat and I support everyone's right to compete and play sports.

Gonna use this opportunity to shamelessly post a gym selfie in this thread to both encourage myself and others. Healthy body, healthy mind.

How do they feel about transgenders comoeting against females.

Or do you mean transgenders and you're yet another one of those who deny being a transphobe while exhibiting the transphobe characteristic of misgendering them?

Misgendering is not transphobic any more than you calling me a chick is heterophobic.

.

The hormones and other drugs that are part of their transition negate that advantage over the space of a year.
No they don’t.
Why lie about such an easily disproven claim.

You are only discrediting yourself.

Wow. Pretending like most of the difference between males and females when it comes to sports is psychological is so far divorced from reality it almost makes me think you are trolling and just trying to make transgender people look bad.

I spoke with a transphobe who was openly a transphobe about this topic once. I asked him point blank as an athlete what's the ratio for mental/physical when it comes to sports. He said 80% mental, 20% physical. I don't know many athletes who wouldn't say something similar.

Well I mean you made up a story about talking to some random person. What a convincing argument.

That you think it is a mental aspect that makes the worlds fastest remake 100 meter time being beat by many many highschool boys is hilarious.
It shows a complete disconnect from reality.

I recall the women's pro soccer team get 0 points while 14 year old boys won 15 points.

I'm both. I am a woman and I am transgender. For people to say I am not a woman is simply just.... very hard for me to believe.
If you are biologically male and psychologically female, I don't think you should automatically be stunned or insulted if some people refer to you as male or man. They are not necessarily trying to insult or degrade you. Many people simply use the terms male, female, man, and woman to refer to biological sex - which is still a very common (if not the most common) dictionary definition of those words.
There are much more important things to focus on than the words people use. This athletic endeavor you've started on is one of them. Congratulations. Keep it up. .

This is what dehumanization looks like when you claim that she should not be insulted when she is willfully misgendered.

She has every right to be r treated with respect and dignity as her gender identity.

That's mighty white of you.

I made no such claim.
She has every right to be r treated with respect and dignity as her gender identity.
There is no such right. Any demand for such a right is a demand for privilege.
That's mighty white of you.
Do you mean that as an insult? Or are you simply referring to my status as Caucasian?

I made no such claim.

This is exactly what you said that she should not be insulted when she is willfully misgendered. That ideas is very offensive that she should not feel personally degraded when you insult her. Its has a name and that name is gaslighting.
There is no such right. Any demand for such a right is a demand for privilege.

Its basic human dignity and follows the golden rule.
Do you mean that as an insult? Or are you simply referring to my status as Caucasian?
I am also very white. You insult her and then falsely try to act like you are supportive of trans people.

This is exactly what you said that she should not be insulted when she is willfully misgendered.
That's a lie. that's not what I said.

Its basic human dignity and follows the golden rule.
Nothing I said violates human dignity or the golden rule.
I am also very white.
I didn't ask you about your status. I asked you if you intended to insult me by calling me very white.
You insult her and then falsely try to act like you are supportive of trans people.
I didn't insult her. Stop lying.

That's a lie. that's not what I said.

These are your words, and it is gaslighting. If you happen to accidentally misgender her, then apologize and change. Its not acceptable to do otherwise.

I don't think you should automatically be stunned or insulted if some people refer to you as male or man. They are not necessarily trying to insult or degrade you.
Nothing I said violates human dignity or the golden rule.

Those words are a violation of human dignity and equality. Stop it. She is absolutely female and must be treated as a female, despite her biological sex. Gender idneity is superior to sex when they are incongruent, so respect that and treat her as female instead of trying to say its OK if you treat her as a male. That transphobic idea is very offensive.
I didn't ask you about your status. I asked you if you intended to insult me by calling me very white.

I'm not insulting you because of your race because I am also very white. I criticized you because of your gaslighting her.
I didn't insult her. Stop lying.
I'm not lying.

These are your words, and it is gaslighting.
Yeah, let's compare what I actually said to what you claim I said:
Here is what I said:
"I don't think you should automatically be stunned or insulted if some people refer to you as male or man. They are not necessarily trying to insult or degrade you."
And here is your doctored version:
"This is exactly what you said that she should not be insulted when she is willfully misgendered"
1. So I spoke of people who are "not necessarily trying to insult or degrade you." And you changed that to "willfully misgendered" . That was a lie.
2. Also where I said "I don't think you should automatically be stunned or insulted" you surgically removed the key word "automatically". That was another lie.

She is absolutely female and must be treated as a female, despite her biological sex.
"Despite her biological sex" - and what is her biological sex?
Gender idneity is superior to sex when they are incongruent,
That's as illogical as saying that eye color is superior to waist size. Or visa versa. They are just two different metrics.

I'm not insulting you because of your race because I am also very white. I criticized you because of your gaslighting her.
So what was the point in calling me "very white"? What did that have to do with the discussion?
