Atheism is popular in the US? Since when? Compared to where? The United States is persistently one of the most religious nations outside of the Middle East or Africa.Of course there are Atheist on this forum, as being an Atheist is rather popular in the USA now-a-days.
In fact when compared to the organized religions of the world then to reject that and become Atheist is a smart intelligent thing to do.
Atheism in the end is not accurate, but in many ways the Atheist are still far more accurate then are most of Christianity.

Moderator's Warning: Moved to Atheist Avenue.
Well I am not blindly devoted to anything.Just when I thought there is no hope for the blindly devoted, you go and post this.
Atheist Avenue?
More like the area where we can freely discuss religion or lack of religion without getting nicked by the mods.
Ah, I was wondering why Beefheart had a "temp suspended" under his name.

I am an atheist. By the way, the words atheist and theist are not typically capitalized.
Spud basically it in post #2, but we (atheist) aren't all that welcomed in the "Religious" forum. Try the "Philosophy Forum".
I'm an atheist/humanist/anti-theist son. :2wave:
Just simple and quick question...
whats your reason for not believing?
Well I am not blindly devoted to anything.
The problem with Atheism is the same problem for Christianity in that both are extremely shallow.
The Christians believe in the barbaric idea of people burning in a Hell, so of course logical sensible people reject that and turn to Atheism.
The problem is that both are wrong, as the Christians do not know what they are talking about, and Atheist make the mistake of rejecting God when they reject the religions.
If either group would do some real research (in-depth) then we could start discussing the reality of a God which everyone has been rejecting.
"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstein
In many ways the Atheist are closer to the truth (closer to God) then are the Christians.
The reality of god? Their is no evidence. That's all there is to it.
I've seen pink unicorns, I know all about it. And mystical experience for which god? There are thousands. The evidence for the reality of God is readily avaiable through direct mystical experience, the problem is it's entirely subjective. It's still evidence, but it's evidence of a sort that is not transferable from one person to another. If you've had the mystical experience, it's all the evidence you need.
