ATF strikes again - Forced reset triggers

The tiger repellent we spread in our woods, is indisputably proven to work as evidenced by the lack of tigers in those woods.

Bobcats are still there, however.
likewise, the elephant rifle I keep in my home in SWOhio is so intimidating, that my farm has NEVER EVER been invaded by elephants

Automatic rifles are only good for suppression. And burst fire is more economical for that. Give me a smooth semi auto every time.

It’s mostly a testosterone thing for these guys. Or compensating.
I wouldn't say that it is their "only" use, but it is certainly what they were designed to do. As someone who has been trained to shoot fully automatic firearms, they are not the kind of firearms I would want to own. Since leaving the Marine Corps 42 years ago I have had very little need to repel hordes of armed enemies. Semiautomatic is where every discriminating shooter would go, unless they are being nostalgic and opting for something more primitive. As Rucker61 correctly pointed out, fully automatic firearms are just a very loud way to waste a lot of money and serve very little purpose beyond suppressing enemy fire.

I sold the Reminington .458 Win. Mag. that I initially bought it just prior to moving to Alaska, in anticipation of hunting brown bear. However, shortly after arriving in Alaska I determined that I had no interest in eating bear, and therefore no reason to hunt them. I had my Mossberg Model 500 with an 18.5" rifled barrel for defense, so I really had no use for such a cannon.

I bought a die for my Lee Rock Chucker, but even reloading my own was expensive. I sold the .458 in 2010, by that time it was already costing more than $5 per round. And each round fired came with a 60-pound felt recoil. It was like being hit hard in the shoulder with a 10-pound sledge hammer. I could never handle more than 5 consecutive shots with that firearm.

The AR-12 replaced the Mossberg in 2018, and the recoil is far less than the Mossberg, even though they are firing the same round. It is the spring in the stock that makes all the difference.

Neither has mine, guess elephants are just as scared of baseball bats.

No, but I bet Joe Pesci has never invaded your house.

It's always just been a work around, a way for the whackos to pretend they've got a "real machine gun". Like a bump stock or a binary trigger. Toy's for Rambo wannabes.
How many times are these things used in violent crimes.

I'm guessing never.

So banning them is just about wackos trying to deprive people from having a toy.

It's amazing to me how harmless you think this all is but how desperately you need the government to interfere with it it seems like you want the government to make criminal side of people that displease you.

That's exactly what it is isn't it that's why you're willing to throw away your own rights.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face as it were.

You don’t think the federal government controls what medicines you are allowed to take. Interesting.
They certainly can control what medications can be manufactured in the US. They don't seem to be very good at preventing anyone from taking medicines they aren't legally allowed to take.

Or legally imported.

It would appear that ATF's quest to get rid of forced reset triggers has slammed hard into the brick wall they hide behind. I have followed the forced reset trigger drama for over a year now, and I am currently assisting Lawrence DeMonico with some video work. I am looking to acquire several various commercially available AR15 triggers. Each trigger will be recorded showing only the trigger similar to the video linked Video . The purpose of the final video is to establish REASONABLE DOUBT, should the ATF/DOJ find a federal prosecutor willing to file criminal charges on someone. If you can't tell the difference, they neither could a jury!

Single Function vs Single Continuous Pull? ATF's play on words that often gets overlooked!

Contrary to popular belief the plain language of the definition of a machine gun in the Nation Firearms Act of 1934, & the Gun Control Act of 1968, does NOT state "single continuous pull" of the trigger. If you go onto the ATF.gov website and looking up the term "machine gun", the statutory definition states "single function" of the trigger. If you click on the Bump Stock tab that is were the statutory definition gets altered with term "single pull". ATF alters the plain language again in regards to the forced reset triggers by inserting "single continuous pull. "Single function" is the mechanical attribute of the trigger itself. Single pull or single continuous pull is the physical attribute of the shooter, and what he or she does to initiate the "function" of the trigger. Look at it this way, how does a door function? They open, and close, but the door won't function until the person pushes or pull on the door.

Another reason why the statutory definition says function, and not "pull" is because not all firearms operate by the "pulling of a trigger" The Browning M2 50cal belt fed fires by "pushing" the butterfly trigger with the shooter thumbs, The Vulcan 134 Mini Gun fires by pressing an electronic button. Another word to use as a synonym to single "function" would be single "movement". Slow motion video of both bump stocks, and the FRT-15 triggers conclusively shows that the triggers have two "functions / movements" for every round fired.

The regulation violates ex post facto clause of the constitution, this will be adjudicated.
gun haters hope the government will ruin the lives of gun owners who have never harmed anyone by their gun ownership.

I realize you support anything that harasses gun owners-but if someone buys a legal product, how is it proper for unelected bureaucrats to suddenly determine the items bought legally are now contraband? Hope the courts ream the ATF assholes out
I realize some are frantic to ignore facts and sling empty rhetoric around. The government is run by many 'unelected' bureaucrats. Like most positions that head major branches, Senate confirmation is part of the process. (Course many Presidents to include tRump use 'acting' heads if the Senate baulks at the choice.)

Got to love the Rabid Right's use of unelected as if there is something commie or un-American. A legal/governmental scholar such as yourself knows very well hundreds of positions are filled 'unelected' to include supreme courts Justices. Hucklebee's wailing about unelected bureaucrats is a classic Rabid Right Rant.

Seems to me the precedent was set back in the 30's when machine guns were declared contraband (to use your view of the word). I'm not sure when these triggers became available, but it seems like they are pretty new. Manys the time a new product comes on the market only to be banned, or highly regulated. I'd opine if you try to skirt the spirit, letter of the law don't be surprised when your bubble gets a pin in it... ✌️

another example of you trying to attack gun owners for their perceived political leans. The fact is, the ATF originally ok'd the sale of these things-like the "pistol brace" "stocks" and now wants to change its official position so as to fellate the Anti gun politicians running the federal government now

Not so fast. A designer drug that gets around current laws doesn't get ex post anything...

The company brought out a product whose use is to circumvent existing law. They didn't go to the ATF to see if the trigger would have a legal row to hoe. They simply decided to make their money and legal ownership was on the buyer... ✌️
