do i get more space in my pm box or any incentive to donate

No, they still treat me like shit.

lets say, hypothetically, a person is willing to cut a deal, could there be a seat on the mod council created for that hypothetical person in that hypothetical example, they say money talks

Would probably have to be a lot of money.

However, I'm sure you are less likely to get banned if you are a donator. Which is a smart move for the forums sake.

I don't you'll find that to be the case here. If it were so, I wouldn't want to donate or be a part of the forum. Our government is corrupt enough, this place should never be in the business of corruption. The mods are nominated and voted upon by the mods and the site owner, as it should be.

If you want to donate, please do so, but don't think that it will get you a mod spot or any special treatment. And as far as scourge's comment goes, I wouldn't want to be a part of a forum where donating takes precedent over following the rules. If someone is breaking the rules, they should be punished on that alone, not on "oh, look, they donate so we'll let it slide". I've had personal conversations with the site owner and I seriously doubt that donations factor into any decision making, especially when it comes to the rules.

As far as perks go, the post that vauge linked you to are "the perks". Personally, I donate to this site because it is the best political discussion site on the net IMHO. This forum is the best moderated forum I've ever been a part of (and I used to run my own forum for almost a year). I donate because I like this site, and I want to see it remain as it is, not to mention still running. If you like the site and want to see it stay up, please by all means, donate. If you're just looking for a mod position or something else special, I think you've come to the wrong place.

vauge, if I've stated anything here that isn't true or you disagree with, please feel free to inform me as such.

This is not true at all. Multiple platinum donators have been banned. A couple have been perma-banned. Had one guy donated one day and the next did something very stupid thinking he was immune.

:(

Nope, you can't buy a mod seat.

However, being a donor does help if you are already being considered and have competition for the same mod seat. All things being equal, the mod team will liky take the donor over the non-donor, but this is only a tie-breaker policy as I understand.

I've seen Platinum donors perma banned, and I know a Platinum donor who was just suspended.

Donating does not affect how you are moderated, positively or negatively.

So...when can we buy donations for other people again?

Good question. Last I looked, it was no longer available as an addon.

And you know this how? Don't spread lies unless you are prepared to provide proof of such assertions.

Tavern is unavailable until any of the following:

1. One has been here 1 year with at least 1000 posts.
2. The service rep aka bartender invites you.
3. Donation.

We had a couple other areas in the distant past that did not sustain.

Suggestions for sekrud places for donators only are always welcome. :)

True, mod seat cannot be purchased. One of the folks that left to create his own forum found that out rather abruptly a few years ago. We will go down in flames before a mod spot is purchased. Just in case however, send small unmarked bills to my address. :)

It is true that folks that donate can get additional attention when we ask the team for mod candidates. However that is on an individual level - the mod team as a whole does not look at that at all when voting. Each mod has their own qualifier. Some mods may see donating as a sign of commitment and weigh that heavier. Other mods may weigh the party affiliation or the depth of participation of the user as qualities we need as a team.

Unsure if that makes any sense at all... lol

In short, donating helps but I believe being a consistent poster helps more.
