Are guns a problem in the US?

So you've been here and know this right ?

It's been all over the news for a few years now. Do you live in a domicile that has locked you in?

Well I have lived there for two years and in other countries too over time putting me in a position to judge based on personal experience rather than tabloid sensationalism . Have you ?

And obviously, as per the information you have given us, you witnessed a microcosm of what the USA is all about and are in NO position to judge anyone....period!

Just because something isn't as big of a problem as it once ones, doesn't mean that it's not still a problem.

that's a rather silly throwaway line. The issue is-if the "problems caused by people with guns" are decreasing, why do we need any additional laws restricting legal gun owners?

Heads up. Slavery was abolished here decades before it was in the US and you lock up vastly more people per capita than we do as was illustrated earlier

Well at least I can base my view on some experience rather than on tabloid journalism that panders to the wilfully ignorant

I agree criminal and evil/stupid people are the problem.

A problem greatly magnified by their having easy access to guns as your fatalities clearly show. Guns make killing far too easy

It is pointless trying to convince American's to give up on guns, so keep on killing each other as we love seeing the results on TV each night

Freedom, its what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Don't like it-tough. And as the number of guns owned by honest people goes up-the CRIME RATE IS GOING DOWN

really? do you live inside a prison. If you don't then there is no such guarantee.

No I live in a country that woke up to itself and put its citizens first before the gun, as other mature countries have, but not America who is backwards in so many ways. I see you still use the imperial measuring system, as you cannot bring yourselves to break away from England completely when every other industrialised country is metric, and you don't have a Medicare for all your citizens, no your avatar of a turtle totally sums you up

OK so what we have is an anti gun subject who is afraid of freedom and, like Aesop's fox, wants to spread misery. Your country is very different than ours and as your leading citizen on this board constantly notes, its asinine to try to compare your nation with ours. SO you can wallow in your belief of superiority while I will laugh at your demand that we should be like other nations.

And yet the death rate continues to climb steadily and has done since 2000.

As ever. What has having the facility to kill one another more easily have to do with freedom ?

stop lying, that is not true in the USA and since you have been educated on this fact, your continued claims are dishonest lies.

and your moronic slanted question is rejected as being hackish nonsense

Indeed. And that freedom from fear is a far greater one than they will ever know. Frankly I worry about getting shot about as much as I worry about getting struck by lightning

This graph shows exactly where the problem lies

How can we be conned that guns are now problem when they are obviously not? Is everybody a slave to what gun control claims?

"Are guns a problem in the US?" Nope. But socialization and education are.

so why do you spend so much time whining about guns then. It appears that freedom is what bothers you, not safety

In 2000 you had around 28,500 gun deaths per year last year it was over 34,000 what has massively increased over that time too is the incidence of mass shootings. As far as smearing others with dishonesty goes my friend you really take the biscuit

Yes taking the 5th on that one is perhaps your best option

Thats because I know owning a mass of guns like you do has nothing whatsoever to do with freedom.

I believe that you know that too

that's a lie because the population has increased and the number of guns has gone up by many millions

suicides do not matter as a crime control issue and most of the other killings are by those who cannot legally own guns

so you are wrong and the article you cited talks about mass shootings, not the numbers you quoted

that's just stupid. You hate freedom and you are whining about a nation where you don't matter

that's a lie because the population has increased and the number of guns has gone up by many millions

Ergo as linked earlier the death has increased and at a far greater rate than your population has

suicides do not matter as a crime control issue

Of course suicides matter when 70% of them involve the use of a gun. Guns make suicide far too easy to commit successfully and on impulse .... as it does with murder

most of the other killings are by those who cannot legally own guns

Odd then that the great bulk of your mass shootings involve the use of a legally owned firearm. This graphically illustrates the disproportionate problem your firearms represent for your society vs other forms of violent crime

Oh great...time for a new 'gun love in' thread.

It must be 20 minutes after the hour.

that's just stupid. You hate freedom and you are whining about a nation where you don't matter

And where is your unbiased, factual proof that he 'hates freedom'?

And since 'hate' is an emotion/feeling. And since, to my knowledge, there is no way to measure emotions. THen I highly doubt you will be able to prove that he 'hates freedom'...or hates anything else...unless he admits to it.

And remember, you did not type, 'I believe you hate freedom'. You said it in a matter of fact manner...presenting it as fact.

So....where is your factual evidence of your matter of fact statement that flogger 'hate(s) freedom'?

Everytime someone dares to talk negatively in ANY way about gun laws/ownership you appear to FREAK out. Normally you are reasonable. But mention guns and your otherwise (seemingly) above average IQ seems to drop 50 points - no offense intended. Why are you so seemingly wacko about guns?

I await your (imo) inevitable, hate-filled tirade/rebuttal.
