How so? The items he purchased are known to be used as ingredients for "purple drank" (or "lean", "sizzurp", etc.). Posts from Trayvon's Facebook page indicate that he has made this concoction before, and would continue making it. Time estimates indicate that he had plenty of time to return home and just mind his own business, but for whatever reason, he turned around and confronted Zimmerman.

So where, exactly, is the slander here?

Do you think GZ just laid there and let TM punch him at will?? He obviously was covering his face as best he could after TM straddled him. That likely caused TM to be frustrated enough to start head banging on the sidewalk. That was a BIG mistake. It's one thing to get punched, but totally different to get your head bashed against a hard surface. That's where the real fear of harm surfaced.


I think that's a very good possibility.

All we really know is that it was Trayvon that was being followed.

Have you ever been followed by someone you didn't know? I have, several times in fact and my basic instinct told me to not to let them follow me home. GZ told the dispatcher that he saw Trayvon heading for the north exit of the complex which was the opposite direction of his fathers house. So if he was trying to lose Zimmerman then that would explain why he would have doubled back....and in the process of doing so he could have run into Zimmerman who was waiting for him.


In the four minutes between the time Zimmerman lost sight of Trayvon and their encounter....GZ could have easily gotten back to his SUV. But he didn't, so what was he doing during that four minutes?

If you were being followed by a stranger, the last thing you want to do is lead them to your house or know where you live. Trayvon tried to lose Zimmerman by walking fast or running in a direction that was away from his house. In order for him to get back to his house, he would have had to double back.


Trayvon was minding his own business...Zimmerman was not.

I'm just amazed at how "blacks": became so generic. When Bernie Maddoff was convicted, did you declare "why are all Jews thieves"? When Jodi Arias was convicted. did you declare that "why are white women so murderous"?

Blacks range from the lowliest gang-bangers with the IQ of cabbages to world leaders and CEOs. Lumping 30 million people together in one classification is less than logical.

Indeed, anyone who thinks that all blacks are alike - and bad - is a classic bigot.

That is astounding.
 
Sure. There are about 14,000 murders in the U.S. So using your figures, that makes 12,600 black murderers. Shameful, but not enough to prejudge 40 million others who didn't commit murder. Such as my best friend who never murders anybody although we consider it from time to time.

Not prejudging anyone individually. Collectively, that is a huge problem, not to mention that 80 percent of all black children are born into a family with no father.

I, too, have black friends. Very good black friends. But this isn't about them individually.

It's about stone cold facts, and this country's obsession with pointing out anyone who mentions them as racists.

I think 80% might be a bit of an exaggeration but there is no question that the figures are very high.

There is also no doubt that Blacks are the least successful or adaptive societal members. Asians and jews are the most successful. However, if you had a generic negative attitude toward blacks on this basis, you wouldn't have those friends that you presumably value.

Everything is about individuals. Racists don't have black friends. Racists lump entire ethnic groups into a single category - BAD.

My neighborhood has a fairly high percentage of blacks. Some of them get up and go to work every day. Plenty of them stand around speaking Ebonics to the point where you need an interpeter. Unfortunately, the origins of this date back to the Eisenhower era when our fearless leaders of both parties decided to create welfare as a method of "keeping the niggers down on the farm" and protecting the whites from labor competition. We are still paying the price for these bad, selfish decisions. It would still be another decade before Jim Crow was ended.

I don't say this as an apologist. The situation is terrible. What are we going to do about it? Certainly programs like Head Start have made improvements but change is a slow process. Taking a negative attitude toward an entire race is not the path to a solution.
