"The Department of Homeland Security is roundly condemning an Associated Press story that broke Friday morning about considering the use of the National Guard to “round up” undocumented immigrants. The DHS says that isn’t true, and—contra the AP’s reporting—that DHS Secretary John Kelly didn’t write the draft memo.

“The Department is not considering mobilizing the National Guard,” said Gillian Christensen, the acting press secretary for DHS.

A DHS official told The Daily Beast that the memo the AP cited was an early, pre-decisional draft, that Kelly never approved it, and that the department as a whole never seriously considered it."

Yeah, neither am I....If you take DHS's word for it, they deny even writing the memo....If you take some of the outlets reporting this breathlessly, then it's everything from accurate, to Trump is about to construct a death star, and summon the storm troopers....haha....I have no freakin' clue....

WASHINGTON — In an unprecedented turn in American history, retired Marine Gen. James Mattis, several years after being dismissed by the President and exiled to his estate in the countryside, marched on the national capitol early Tuesday morning with an army over one hundred thousand strong.

This number includes at least ten infantry legions, several aviation and artillery legions, and multiple cavalry cohorts.

“I come in peace, by myself, in order to hand-deliver a Memorandum of Concern to the Commander in Chief and the Senate,” said Mattis in a press conference. “I am moving on foot at a leisurely pace, with no ill will. If these American citizens choose to take a stroll with me, then who am I to turn down their companionship?

Mattis was apparently done waiting, and crossed the Potomac on landing craft, escorted by a Marine Raider honor guard regiment. However, after setting fire to the National Archives and sabotaging key infrastructure, the cabinet and most members of the Senate fled north toward New York and Boston in cars, vans and whatever other vehicles they could commandeer.

The President has not been seen since early yesterday morning, but sources inside the State Department confirm that he is on a scheduled goodwill trip to Egypt, which was kept from the press for safety reasons. His travel schedule has not been released to pool reporters.

General Kelly's memo is dated January 25th. That is the same date as the Trump-Bannon disastrous EO on immigration. Gen. Kelly's memo said it was pursuant to the EO of January 25th, i.e., toward implementing it from the DHS perspective.

If the White House did not know of Kelly's memo of January 25th then the whole gang of 'em at 1600 should be fired, right on up to Trump. And if the WH did know about the general's memo of January 25th as of January 25th, they should all be fired anyway.

That's bs

If they memo never left homeland security then there's no reason for the White House to see it

Before anything can acturally happen the White House and all the state governments would have be to involved and that has not happened

My take

Some one was instructed to write it, as part of a wide number of options. But as an option it was rejected fairly early. Overall I am sure that they had quite a few proposals on how to handle illegal immigration and a significant number were rejected, this one happened to get leaked. Which to me is not a bad thing, considering all options is something that should be done, it is the option that is take is what matters

He's appointing military brass hats to key positions in his administration. Mattis is okay even if I myself don't like a general as SecDef. Kelly is a jerk and Flynn was out to lunch after getting fired from the military for being OTT.

Budgets are tight, there aren't enough agents and Trump luvs the military and military solutions. The memo has been in circulation since January 25th, the day the Trump-Bannon immigration "extreme vetting" EO was issued.

I'd already said if Trump didn't know he should be fired. If Trump knew he should be fired. Trump fired Flynn for getting caught. We saw with Iran-Contra Potus is shielded. That however only goes so far, as we saw with Tricky Dicky.

Who didn't know back on November 8th we were going to get this madness from the radical wildman ignoramus Donald Trump. All Trump knows is call out the National Guard or send in the Marines.
