Answer me this:

To have enlisted in the military, they must have been here legally.

But not yet citizens. You and I and virtually all of us are here via immigration. Many of us before this country even considered implementing immigrtant controls.

The vast majority of immigrants today - people of all colors - are hard working and principled people.

I have to agree with the OP, waving either flag is nonsense. This whole wrapping your flag is so...............

I was thinking more like 1966. The Hippies had it right.
Maybe they should burn bibles as well.

So the the authoritarians wont have bibles to carry nor flags to wrap themselves in.

Not sure of their motivation...I just see a bunch of retards waving flags from shithole countries that they desperately do NOT want to return to. So...viva...wherever the **** you are from and enjoy the bus ride home.

The only burning I ever approved of was back in the day when women burned their bras.

“When fascism comes to America it will be carrying a bible and wrapped in the flag”.

Because they'll do anything for Mexico except to live there.
Most of those idiots fail to understand the PR effect of celebrating the land you want to live in. Instead they are turning a lot of people against their cause.

I'd love to see countries like Canada, England, Austria, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, etc step up and say "come live in our countries and enrich US!!! We'll pay for your flight."

I think my point was missed. I don't approve in the burning of a flag NOR the wrapping oneself up in a flag. Both are just performance art.

Mine was a riff on a famous quote about the arrival of fascism in America.

It would be much less impressive if it was naked due to lack of costume availability.

And everything trump does is performance art.

Why do people burn the flag of the nation that they have left everything to be part of, yet parade and wave the flag of the country that they are resisting going back to?

Simple, they didn't leave it.

They're invaders and they are flying their true colors.

I don’t think that they remember that when there was an uprising in Mexico over the massive corruption we just brought their army to the School of the Americas to teach them how to put it down. And they did.

I can’t think of a big mess we’ve had to deal with in my lifetime that we didn’t cause.

Like overthrowing the elected leadership in Iran and installing the Shah. Not once but twice. That’s how the Imams came into power.

There’s a good case to be made that our attempts to spread the legs of Latin America for our capitalists is at least in part responsible for the eco omicron situation that leads to our immigration problem.

None of them can answer this question:

If your kid had cancer and the only way you could get the money to save them would be to cross an imaginary line without permission, would you do it or would you let them die in the name of that obeying that imaginary boundary?

Makes ‘em screech though!

Most often, they can't get a decent job in the old country.
If people are indicating that they intend to make America's culture into Mexico's culture, to me, that significantly strengthens the argument for mass deportations.

My willingness to take on the huddled masses willing to assimilate and yearning to breathe free is far greater than my tolerance for those who want to turn us into another central American partial-basket case.

I saw your earlier post in this thread and I'm wondering what can you point to specifically claim that people might be intending to make America's culture into Mexican culture. What makes you think that. I only see food, vocabulary like rodeo, lasso, plaza, and not any meaningful intrusion. If there's culture shift it's from North to South.

But I don't see the intrusion of much at all so I wondered what you meant.

And in an American city named Los Angeles no less.

Latino culture in a city named Los Angeles no less. Perplexing.

As a nation of immigrants there is no "American Culture" per se. American culture such as it is is an amalgam of all the cultures of all the people who've come here and is constantly changing. Trying to stop that is like trying to stop the tide.

Personally, having grown up in one of the most ethnically diverse places in the country - Queens County NY - I cannot even begin to comprehend all this fear.

Indeed. As blacks were stripped of their ancestors' and nation's culture phen they were brought here as slaves, black culture might be the most genuine American culture.

Who is doing this?

Is this another fable Fox told you?

They can do as they wish. Its that whole freedom thing.
It might help to understand the apparent conflict.
Which conflict? There are multiple conflicts going on.

God Bless America..

Because one can leave a nation and not their culture, effectively bringing their culture with them and use a flag to celebrate that culture.

And because they can burn a US flag because part of being an American is being allowed to signify a problem with the US by using free speech to burn the flag to show protest.

Folks like you automatically assume two erroneous things. First, you mistakenly believe that any time someone burns the US flag, that they hate America, which is rarely true. Second, you forget that being American means you live in a nation of multiple, different cultures from other lands. The culture of America is derived from all of those cultures.

Look, I'm not a fan of burning the flag either, but we do have free speech and this is protected free speech no matter if you and I like the idea of burning the US flag in protest. You and I can not like it, but don't assume that the person doing it hates America. For me, it's like country singers who wear shirts, hats and pants in the design of the American flag: it's disrespectful as hell to do that, but...they have the right to do it, either in support or protest.

Absent the Shah, why did the Iranians not form a true representative democracy? Because the Ulama was always there in the background waiting.

Other countries imagine that it is the Iranian nation that has abased itself in this way. They do not know that it is the Iranian government, the Iranian Parliament - this Parliament which has nothing to do with the Iranian people. This is a Parliament elected at bayonet point, what does such a Parliament have to do with the people. The Iranian nation did not elect these deputies. Many of the high-ranking `ulama and maraji' ordered a boycott of the elections, and the people obeyed them and did not vote. But then came the power of the bayonet, and these deputies were seated in the Parliament.

According to a history textbook printed this year and now taught to our schoolchildren, one containing all kinds of lies and inaccurate statements: "It has now become clear that it is to the benefit of the nation for the influence of the religious leaders to be rooted out." They have come to understand well that:

If the religious leaders have influence, they will not permit this nation to be slaves of Britain one day, and America the next.
-- from Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, Speech Denouncing American Influence in Iran (1964)

The flag can be burned in many ways both literally and figuratively
Burning and then burying the ashes is one of the few ways an old flag is supposed to be retired. I'm gonna bet at some of the anti flag burners either don't have one or if they do just toss old ones in the trash or do something else similarly disrespect to get rid of old flags.

Our meddling gave them the opportunity to take control of Iran.

America made it clear they weren’t allowed to have a secular democracy.

“NO! Bad country! Shah for you! He’ll take our bribes and let our oil barons pillage your resources!”
