Am I seeking a speical right or already equal?

But back to the point who's rights are being denied? Who's rights an I over looking.

You are overlooking peoples right's who do not share your point of view!!

You are overlooking peoples right's who do not share your point of view!!

They have the right to their point of view. I am not denying them that, keep it all you want. I still have the right to disagree and voice my disagreement. If you don't like that again you don't have the right to my agreement.

Demonizing is a form of rhetoric, I didn't say you were satanic. You are attempting to maker gay people into wicked people by using words like parasite.

Why not use your own logic...? I was no more calling gay people less-than-human parasites any more than you were calling me satanic... you, and countless others here, are using, misusing words, in an effort to make yourself, and your arguments, seem superior through your absurdly strident and simply emotional appeal to demonize my words. Those are not arguments and are also way off topic.

I am debating you and the folks on your side ... and you keep forcing us off the topic and into this ... if you have no further points to assert [and I can tell from the other post I am responding to that you have nothing more to add] and this is all you have, I would say the defense should give it a rest and allow the jury, the American people, to decide with their votes.

I must bow to you..after all it is the law..

You are just as biased and incapable of an objective view point.

Fighting back? For what a divided society.

the boy scouts bizarre opinions get them flack from the media, if they weren't prepared to battle for their rights, why even enter that Frey.

So what others can't do anything about it. If popular opinion is against you and you can't hold up in the right as you claimed then apparently you are in the wrong.

Your analogy was opinion based, so it can't be correct at all. You are also terrible at debate.

Major persecution complex, the tyranny of the majority is exactly what the constitution protects from. If the supreme court rules on it much like they have in the past against the tyranny of the government which is the people, then the constitution would have been up held. Your team loyalty to your conservative team captain is the tyrant.

not mine but I don't participate anymore, they have before revoked rank from gay people that is why this became an issue.
Waa waa waa, big media is picking on me. If they were right they wouldn't be crying. I have every right to say what I want about them. If I was violating their constitutional rights and they really cared they could take me to court.

Want change for change's sake? That isn't clear, that is a ridiculous argument.

And the oppressive majority IS the government you are the tyrant. This nation is a democratic republic therefore the people are three government. The courts are there to protect my rights from you.

Your statement is that the government can strip rights from people that you don't like, very unamerican. I suggest you return to the USSR.

Because you don't have a point.

You are the one identifying groups, and denying prosperity to them, you mentioned lgbt and the gay community and the other identity politics catch phrases.

You are creating special rights only straight people can marry the gender they prefer because they are superior to others. Kind of like the pigs in Animal Farm . "all animals are created equal, but some are more equal than others." You are insisting on a Linonesque government that simply stomps out that which is "less equal".

Save your time fellow debaters, not much if any substance at all in the comments just to the north here... a very very tired attempt... and CLax, do not have to be a good debater, just better than my opponents... and we will see how the people decide....31 states have already voted to BAN same sex marriage ... we, the majority get to make the rules in our society, that is just the way it is and should continue to be. That is the will of the people.

I would wish your side luck, but I want society to remain stable and workable, so....

You fail because you refuse to take into account the fact that voters change with time. Opposition and support of voters changes with time. One of the states that had a same sex marriage ban voted into place has already overturned it, Maine. It is just a matter of time.

Plus, when interracial marriage bans were in place, several of them were voted into place by the people. Votes of the people are still subject to constitutional restrictions. They cannot violate the rights of people.

Society will be just fine when same sex marriage bans are gone. You are showing your paranoia.

Ahhhem the majority support gay rights, now. Popular opinion tends to change. Such as i the case with miscegenation laws as well.

Use your language skills, I didn't call you satanic i didn't even imply that you were satanic. when I explained that you demonizing gay people that means you are making gay people out to be demonic. You are putting others into the demonic category. I didn't demonize you, you clearly don't know what that means.

They already did, 11 states and counting. The highest populated states at that. Well done, you proved your own point pointless.

Except states aren't people, and the majority is against you in this. your society hasn't ever been the stable you pretend it is.

What do you mean? What rights are being denied, you never said that. You just claimed that people don't share my view point, they have the right to not share my view point, I never did anything to tale that away.

I have the right to be disgusted by homosexual behaviour..the right to object that you want to get married in a church..and also the right to object to homosexual couples adopting same sex children!!
Or any children as a matter of fact!!

31 to 11 is just fine, all about letting the people decide...I know which side of 31 I would rather be on....and the people did not decide in most/many of those instances [only a paltry 3 out of 11 by popular referendum, not a very good batting average either, right?], it was the courts or the legislatures...how about lets let the folks decide, eh?

I see, I get it. So only your side gets determine if words mean what they are intended to mean, eh? We get it... your side doesn't like losing so you just get to "adjust the rules" a little, be your own referees, ha ha, too too funny, so maybe there is a future in comedy, not much with regards to winning this debate though.

Yes, but you don't have the right to stop me.

No, the dictionary states the meaning clear, if you don't like the English language or want to invent meanings then you don't belong in a debate forum.

11states is more than there were ten years ago, you have lost ground and will continue to lose until its gone.

They decided in all those cases because we live in republics, not direct democracies. Even in those places that allow referendums and have same sex marriage, if the people were opposed to it, they could have simply made a referendum, as California did to try to have their own vote on it or they could have voted for people they knew would not have voted same sex marriage legal to begin with. The say of the voters in a republic comes in the form of your representatives. Direct democracies are stupid forms of government that lead to minorities being far and away oppressed by majority votes.

This is your attempt to reduce someone's argument to something it isn't. We aren't losing. Since opinions on this are constantly moving toward more acceptance and support of same sex marriage, any sane person who knows that laws are never written in stone and can always change, especially when viewed as oppressive to people. And considering the research showing that support for same sex marriage has gone up linearly for the last decade or more, it is only a matter of times before even in those states that voted in place same sex marriage bans will have them voted down again (if they aren't struck down as unconstitutional first). The younger voters, who support same sex marriage in great numbers, well over the majority needed to overturn those bans, grow old enough to vote and actually will start to do so in greater numbers. The older voters, who oppose same sex marriage in the largest numbers, are more likely to die within the next decade than younger voters. Plus, as more and more fencesitters see that same sex marriage really isn't a big deal or they realize that people they know are gay, they will start to support it more as well. More support means more people to push to repeal those bans. Four or five states are already working toward referendums for 2014 or 2016 to repeal their bans.

Just wondering, have you ever been accused of overloading with facts and evidence? Ha ha ha ha...I was under the distinct impression that this is a debate politics website, not a just-give-your-opinion-with-no-need-to back-it-up site. Maybe I am wrong... I can be wrong, as proven in my last line here in this post...

And I would agree with you that popular opinion does indeed change, it can for for you...and against you... and if you overplay your hand, well...

Where they have held a vote, only 3 have won that vote in support of your side of the argument. So how about you not just say it, how about you display it, this proof of your majority view in some sort of evidentiary manner, in other words at least try to prove it. Somehow, in some fashion besides just this statement of, apparently, what you believe to be true. Otherwise you are just another with an opinion, and you know the old saying about that...

Oh, and I was wrong, its 37 states against same sex marriage, my bad...

Has Gaugingcatenate presented one argument, ONE that has been destroyed by multiple posters yet?

If so id like to know what it is because im sure we just missed it.

I don't think you have any facts, 11 states have same sex marriage 7 don't ban it so only thirty two ban it, four if which are north Dakota, south Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas, the four of these states have less people in them than my city. Wyoming, all three people there are in agreement.

Either way the interstate commerce clause will be enforced eventually, remember the fourteenth amendment, national government has the ultimate ssay.
