At least one picture shows an American soldier apparently raping a female prisoner while another is said to show a male translator raping a male detainee.
Further photographs are said to depict sexual assaults on prisoners with objects including a truncheon, wire and a phosphorescent tube.
Another apparently shows a female prisoner having her clothing forcibly removed to expose her breasts.
Detail of the content emerged from Major General Antonio Taguba, the former army officer who conducted an inquiry into the Abu Ghraib jail in Iraq.
Allegations of rape and abuse were included in his 2004 report but the fact there were photographs was never revealed. He has now confirmed their existence in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
The graphic nature of some of the images may explain the US President’s attempts to block the release of an estimated 2,000 photographs from prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan despite an earlier promise to allow them to be published.
“The mere description of these pictures is horrendous enough, take my word for it.”
Well .... no wonder why Obama wants to stop the photos coming out ... But you still gotta release them at some point. Rather sooner than later.
"said to show".......
I will wait until I see "show" or see em before I take this as gospel.
What we need as a country isn't really the release of the pictures, but the very determined prosecution of all who are responsible for the abuse all the way up the chain of command.
If the photos do show rape then they should not be released at all, ever.
The victims of those attacks should not have their pain put on public display to simply satisfy other people's political agenda.
Absolutely not.
The pictures will not show those responsible for the decision to mistreat prisoners, yet the public will demand prosecution of those in the pictures. The right will promote the release of the pictures to direct attention from those actually responsible. We have enough evidence of wrongdoing to begin prosecution of those who ordered torture, the photographs are not necessary.

Please show evidence that they were ordered to rape or stop making things up.
Truthfully, I'm thankful for it. If criminals were smarter, we'd catch less of them.Agreed, it would be distasteful to put it lightly.
How retarded does someone have to be to rape/abuse someone and then take photos of it? The stupidity of some humans still amaze me tbh.

Torture supporters said:What's so bad about that, compared to our enemies cutting off heads? Rape is not torture, and even if it was, I support raping our enemies for useful information.
So do you want the photos released?

Among the graphic statements, which were later released under US freedom of information laws, is that of Kasim Mehaddi Hilas in which he says: “I saw [name of a translator] ******* a kid, his age would be about 15 to 18 years. The kid was hurting very bad and they covered all the doors with sheets. Then when I heard screaming I climbed the door because on top it wasn’t covered and I saw [name] who was wearing the military uniform, putting his **** in the little kid’s ***…. and the female soldier was taking pictures.”
No. and I don't want to hear speculation of what they are "said to show" either.

There are varying levels of culpability here. A direct order to rape is one thing, but knowing it is occuring while fostering it tacitly is almost as bad. It is the latter tendency that needs to be addressed here.
LOL... I knew there'd be some that would justify it, just like waterboarding. :doh
