In this thread I will post a riddle - the first person to guess the answer wins top brainiac prize... Lol - there will be no actual "prize," you will just have forum bragging rights as a very smart and insightful person! :)

Just keep asking me pointed questions until you guess the answer (there is no limit to how many questions you can ask here) - I will simply answer yes or no. If need be, I will provide a short explanation to my answers... The first person to unravel the riddle wins!

OK, here goes (not sure if this is going to work or not) - if we/I become frustrated throughout this process, I may just post the answer.....

A man walks into a restaurant and orders albatross soup. He eats it, them promptly walks outside in the alley, pulls out a gun and kills himself.

Why did he kill himself?

Whomever figures this out gets top brainiac prize!! :)

A few scenarios in my head:

1) The man owns the restaurant. It's been failing. He orders his chef's own soup and realizes how ****ty it is. His restaurant is obviously going to fail and he's going to lose everything. So he decides to kill himself before it all happens.

2) He is the leader of a foreign party. He realized the opposition has poisoned his food. Rather than letting the opposition have a victory, he kills himself publicy, to reveal to his people ...they have control over their lives. So Katniss-esque. (Obviously he obviously heard Republicans speak about America's healthcare, so he didn't bother to seek a hospital).

Sorry, but no to both...

Another scenario:

1) He wanted it to be his last supper.

He was depressed and ate the albatross from around his neck and it didn't work.

The man was stranded in a lifeboat with his wife. After the effects of dehydration/starvation had taken ahold and his wife had already passed away, he thought an albatross landed in the boat and ate it. He later realized it was his wife he ate. The soup caused him to associate eating albatross with eating his wife.

It's because of the curse of the Albatross from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem The Rime of the Ancient Mariner?

Another attempt:

He was a fatty whose emotional stability depended on food. So when he realized he just tasted the best soup/food ever, he had no reason to continue to live.

He was depressed and ate the albatross from around his neck and it didn't work.

He was depressed, yes - but, only after eating the soup.... No to the albatross around his neck...

it was the way he decided to get the albatross off his neck

Crap Thor won my hidden picture threads also. IQ too high should be barred from contests.

You misphrased the riddle. You should have said that he takes only one bite of the soup.

I'll withhold the correct answer and see if anyone else can get it with this essential clue added.
