Besides reducing military and legalizing all drugs, which I am liberal on I have another idea.

If it became a liberal "cause" to replace stupid wasteful boring grass yards with produce. I would cheer them and be on board, and applaud this consistency.

If thisnwere adopted on a wide basis, like 10s of millions doing it, think of the Incredible green benefits.

All the saved shipping of food saved etc.

Hmm… why no picture of your yard?
My yard is way steep and I have too Many trees right now. I have a plan to develope a garden on my low land once I harvest the trees there. It's takes time and money.

I have tried to select edibles on my property. Inhave 5 mulberry trees producing. And blackberries and blueberries. Not a lot yet though.

Worth considering, anyway.

I'm tired of mowing.

Plant corn instead of grass.

Maybe in a section of the garden, but corn can be problematic - grows quite tall, yields not that much per square yard; and it's high carb.

Beans, lettuce, carrots, onions, peppers, potatoes, zuccini, etc. Plus several apple trees, plums, and - oh - hops. :)

Not just produce but fields for bees and butterflies. A lot less mowing!

Cutting ones lawn limits bugs and wildlife.
I consider no esthetics unworthy and a well maintained property is art.

And fruit and nut trees.
If I had the acreage, I'd do an orchard, in a heartbeat. Something about them is absolutely serene.

I had about 1/4 acre of my 2 acre farmhouse left just for this.

I wound up cutting it down and putting in a soccer field.

Ok. I can enjoy a good yard that has spectacular flowers. Grass is boring.

But my practical side limits my appreciation. I can appreciate weeds. A lot of them have interesting stories.

Liberals are the ones working to abate climate change. Grassroots movements to do what you suggest have been underway for a long time. Government incentives might help get more people on board. In my neighborhood most of us have thumbed our noses at the CC&Rs restricting us to grass lawns and replaced them with vegetable plots and wildlife friendly plots.

I can understand that.

I am not like that. I am very visual and just dropped over a grand on fresh mulch, tree and bush trimming, spraying....

$175 per load to take away the limbs and branches. It struck me as a lot.

Great. I am assuming though it has not caught on mainstream. I have heard nothing of it.
