In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings.

On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose…

500 to Medical errors
300 to the Flu
250 to Suicide
200 to Car Accidents
40 to Homicide via Handgun

Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data.
 

It's one thing to quote Neil Degrasse Tyson without giving him credit; it's another to quote the stupidest thing he's ever said and take credit for it yourself.

As someone who has probably done exactly this before, seriously, **** this deflection crap. That’s really all this is. Just because there were other types of murders and other murderers doesn’t negate the horror of mass shootings/killings committed just for hate sake.
 

We gotta ban them guns, though. The only way to do that is to chicken little every shooting that comes along.

Yeah. Its almost like its a cause driven crusade to some people and the dead bodies are just props they use to promote their cause. Or something like that.

Yes, humans are emotional. This is why we respond emotionally also to terrorism. Based on Tyson's "data," we lose way more people every week from such incidents than the number of people we lost in 9/11.

You have a point, but the anti-gunner use overall numbers to paint a false narrative. Zimmer's shedding light on that.

You don't see them getting all hyped over stuff like this:

Always baffled me how people can post something from media sources then complain the media is silent about it.

If a few accumulated common crime stories don't get the same national weight as a mass shooting it's because the nature and scale of each crime is different. I could complain that as many people died in separate traffic accidents over the weekend as in the Ohio shooting but we're not comparing apples and apples.
